It's for my aunt that I live with, she has a nice logitech one right now and it's decent but is easily defeated by people talking and is only good to about 15 feet away, the Bose one is te only relatively small one I know that actually makes noise, I know kicker stuff is generally decent, never heard there iPod dock in real life

Like as in I can read reviews but it gives no real perception to what it actually produces

Corey, are you running an iPod touch? If so, you can run run it to any speakers using an Airport Express and AirPlay.

Bose sounddock is the way to go, I don't understand how these things get so loud, I love mine, it's my first child.

I've never been a fan of dedicated ipod docks. I would rather have something more versatile. Right now I'm using Audioengine 5 speakers. The sound quality is fantastic, and they easily blow any dock system I have heard out of the water. I can also hook them up to my desktop or laptop.
