I'm trying to save your life!!!
look more carefully at that bike - it's a 2 stroke
now go ride smutty's 134...go WOT and redline it in 3rd and 4th gear...now multiply that engine size by almost 5-1/2
that's a maico 700...if you want a dirtbike with a side order of death, buy that bike

If you want light trail riding and fun on the street on a budget, the DRZ400sm is it IMO. As others have said, it's heavy, especially offroad, but it's great on dirt/fire roads. It's extremely nimble too, and an absolute blast on the track. I've had mine at NHMS a few times, and while its a dog on the straights, it's definitely no slouch in the corners. I think for someone who doesn't want to turn wrenches, it's perfect because it really requires almost no maintenance.
All that being said, I'm already considering selling mine in the near future for something like a KTM or a Husky. The DRZ is a GREAT bike, but I'm starting to want something with a little more power.
If you're fast enough in 11-12a, they'll just be catching up to you when they need to brake at turn 1. but even if they pass you, you'll blow right by them in turn 1 again while they brake![]()

A 125 dedicated for the woods will teach you a ton about riding. Low hp and torque so you have to ride the thing to get up the hills. If you want a street legal one talk to Kates. He has a KTM 125 SX with a street title and its all set up for the woods. Not sure if its for sale or not but he has replaced it with a 300.
If you want an easy lazy mans bike to ride get a CRF250 like what I have. After riding my 125 its like driving a Cadillac. Good hp and torque for the woods. Unlike a 125 if it starts to slow down on a climb just feed it more gas and it goes. Very easy to ride. I might be able to be talked into selling mine but its more then 2k.
Did you ever take the 150 into the trails?

wait...you had a CRF150?!
then you should have *some* idea of what you're looking for
and riding in the snow in the shiz
it snows in socal at big bear mountain in the winter...I sort of miss snow riding so I'll be studding up the YZ250 this year!
and ignore chipper on bike size...I'd take a CR80R minimoto on the track and pass guys on 400s![]()

In the states, that specific machine is a 300xcw.
I think the straight xc is a better bike, but I'm biased.
But yeah, the 300 is a fantastic weapon, except on the street.
And keep ignoring me on bike size, where's your cr80 woodsy shredding videos?

I still have the Suzuki RMZ 450/490 for sale. This weekend I traced down a backfire issue, fixed the timing and cleaned up the carb. Took it for about 10-12 laps around Rock Pile. Now, it runs smooth as silk.
Come and get it, Sav!
