KTM 525 would be top pick.
DRZ 2nd.
Anything else.
Doesn't Colin have a drz he doesn't need anymore?

Nope. He sold the DRZ.
Was planning to put my 07 KTM 690SM on the market in the next month or 2
I bought Colin’s bike pretty quickly after it was listed. Just sold my KTM yesterday, might move the klx too, even though it’s exactly as advertised, fun, and hasn’t given me one bit of trouble. I was thinking about listing it in the spring but if you are interested I’d need to think on it a day or two

Three hours, actually. Mostly because I went to lunch and ignored my phone.
Cannot emphasize how great a choice the DRZ is as a street SM. I'd do it exactly the same as I did with that Kawi; '02+ S model so you get the cartridge forks. E model if you can AND it has the necessary paperwork, but not required. Find some SM wheels or go Warp 9. Set it up with a caliper adapter for easy swaps. Dirty set with D606's, at least in the front.. maybe a more 50/50 rear. SM set with the stickiest street/sport rubber you can find. Fleabay a KLR650 carb to transplant in. Add the dynojet kit and jet it per whatever the advice on thumpertalk is. Then ride the everlovingshit out of it.
Slow bikes fast!
I sort of miss that DRZ. Probably always will.
Thought it over. Im keepin it for now
I'd skip the drz knowing you. You won't be impressed by the "power". New husky or GTFO.![]()

One nice thing about the DRZ is they made a fuckton of them. While I would exclude the first two years unless it was an E model, you have like 18 years of nothing but "bold new graphics" production to pick from.
Although Husky 701 SM.. if you have the means.. doeit.. yesterday. That thing is sexy.
I refuse to try that bike as I'm pretty sure I don't need to know exactly how bad I want one. The vague notion is enough, thanks.
been pondering selling my DRZ- will PM you some info
I'm with smutty, drz is a dog. Go for the 690sm. Really fun up to about 95mph.

The drz with a cv carb sucks.
It can be good enough for a street whip with some pretty minor mods.
It’s certainly not going to make panties fly off, but it does the things.

Sam,
Do you even read the other responses lol
'05 Husky I believe to be the year before they beefed up the clutch and the cases of the motor. Something about when kick starting damaging the cases. Might have estart so may not matter.
Similar to most European exotics......great to look at, fun to ride, like frequent maintenance and can be an expensive habit. That being said I do own two of them of this vintage

Hey Sav, not sure how serious you are about buying or what you're budget is, but a local dealer has a drz-sm. I think it's a 2015 with 600 miles for $4300. Shoot me a pm if you want their contact info. I'm about an hour west of Worcester.
