Looking for a 4wd diesel tractor to work on the property with. Can be just a loader but has to be 4wd as it will be doing snow detail. 25-40hp
Kubota or Kioti preferred. Ability to mount a front snowblower a big plus.

You have a PM
Friend of mine has a B7500 compact Kubota, no backhoe though. It's a 2001 or 2002 and it is MINT. I mean MINT, like gleaming. It has very few hours on it and has sat for the past 3 years.
Paid close to 15k for it.
Want me to find out what he wants for it or is it likely to be way out of price range?
You never know what people will take when selling something. If he is looking to get rid of it, I'd be interested to hear for what.
We were expecting to be in the 8-10k range.

tractor's hold there value very well, especially kabota and john deere. a friend bought a good sized deere, used it for two years then sold it for what he paid. great investment.
look at the farm and garden section of craigs. theres alot of tractors for sale, some cheap even. when the wife and i pull the trigger on a house it will be the first thing i look to buy.
A brand new one is about $15k for a deere or kubota with loader & hoe. You may want to consider going that route as they normally have great financing on them. It was 0% for 36 mo when I got mine. I expect you'll have to get pretty old to get into the 10k range. At least from what I saw when I was shopping.
I got a JD 2305 but went a little crazy with it -- loader, hoe, 62" mid mower, 48" tiller. Its 24hp diesel, 4x4, hydrostatic. My girlfriend will run it to mow its so easy. I figure the stuff holds its value so well, why bother with used - just pay the extra couple grand and buy new. get the warranty that way too...
I did a ass load of research before I bought my Kubota BX2000. Dollar for dollar I got a lot more with Kubota then JD and sacraficed nothing. It was a 12K investment with 60" mover deck, read pto driven bagger and front bucket. I think the backhoe adds almost $2,500 to it though. It has since been replaced in their line up with a BX2500.
We've been looking at a Massey Furgason something-or-other. Back hoe & bucket loader, hydro drive, blah-blah-blah - for like, $16K. CRAZY financing deals now too...
Did you grit your teeth and try to look like Clint Fuckin' Eastwood?
Or did you lisp it all hangfisted like a fuckin' flower?
Just make sure you don't get a 3pt attach back hoe. My understanding is that they aren't very strong. Look for a subframe mounted set up.
I think the brand differences are like Ford vs Chevy. Both are good, just slightly different so get the one you like.
Bump. Price range has expanded quite a bit. I'm not a cheap son of a bitch (for this) anymore.

I would like an excuse to buy a tractor, but our roughly 4,000 square foot lawn doesn't really warrant one......

There's one in Albany. I drove out and looked at this very one and can offer details if you wanted to know more about it.

Waiting to hear back from the guy I bought my tractor from as he usually has a few.
I used to mow with an 80hp JD all the time.
How much area/land/drive do you have? The smaller tractors hold their value extremely well, but if you bump into the 50hp and up range, you can get a lot of machine for a the same if you don't mind going a little older. But if you are going to be driving through your yard, I don't recommend it. The 80hp I mentioned didn't do our "lawn" any good, but with the 12' mower, it didn't take long to mow 2 acres (it was the other 150 that sucked). And unless you are getting into swampy areas many larger tractors do not need 4WD.
when you get your tractor you can get one of these and get wood by the grapple load
...and then let me borrow it to do the same
When I start my KTM in the morning, rules are broken. Its inevitable...

Also, I don't need to mow with it at all. I have enough lawn that I can mow it all with a walk behind in 10 minutes.

Gotchya.
All I got is keep an eye on Padula's. they get some used tractors in for a decent price, and some for extravagant dollars. You just have to watch their pricing.
Here, just throw a Woods loader on it.
