The Genone project was for my graduate studies. I needed to perform DNA sequence string matching. The idea is, how do you match DNA data where there is noise and you have a huge amount of data. A great method is to use a suffix tree if you have the space, which you usually do not. Therefore, you can use a suffix array which can be linearly transformed into a suffix tree. Hash tables and such are used to store the data and with proper techniques you can test for specific traits in a given DNA sequence. This can be used to detect if certain known aspects are contained in a given person's DNA sequence.
Fun stuff, but due to the data size it requires some serious PC power. The project is not an ongoing activity at this moment but could be in the future.
