Baller!

I can resist everything but Pete's mom.
The steering wheel is original and huge. It's in great shape, so i'm going to use it. I did however win a factory tilt steering column on ebay for it, which makes the large steering wheel much more comfortable.
I wasn't sure on the yellow/white at first, but I think I may keep it for a couple reasons. Most importantly, the interior is in great condition and there's no need to repaint it to match a color change. And in person, it's not as bright of yellow as it looks in the pictures, the two tone color is actually butterscotch/white.
I've spent some time going over the truck to get an idea what it needs as far as body work and mechanical.
Mechanical, it just needs simple things like hoses, belts, maybe a tune up (plugs, wires, points/condensor, cap/rotor, oil/filter change, air filter), greese the front end and rear suspension/driveshaft, change the coolant, transmission fluid/filter, etc.
The body is really solid for the age, still can't beleive it. I have noticed at a closer look though, that it has been repainted at some point. I was concerned at first, but the good thing is, you can see inside the body pannels, so I know it's not banged up and full of body filler.
Tomorrow after work, I'm dropping the paperwork off with a runner to get the Antique plates for it

I might have an hei distributor if you're interested, I'll look.
HEI is no question. Go with a distributor upgrade and go with after market from the module up. A modern ignition with a box makes a huge difference and you're not even talking 200 bills.
Fantastic truck man. Makes me miss my '72. Good luck and have fun!

I'll have to pull a new power wire from the fuse box from what I remember? The power wire to the stock coil is to small and has a built in resister. Then again, I also found a company that makes a new under the hood wire harness that is already wired for the HEI, Tach and internal regulated alternator
There are complete ingnition kits in Summit for around $230.
Thanks for the compliments, it should be fun

Gotta love the state of RI and their tax laws. Left the DMV yesterday with my antique plates for the truck, and $800 less in my pocket. NADA book value was $11,375.00 and I had to pay sales tax on that amount. The lady at the DMV gave me a tax appeal form and smiled as she said good luck to me
Happy new year![]()

Did she try to spin the draconian taxatiousness into a pep talk about how much money you saved instead by NOT paying high book or the vehicle? I've always countered that one by offering to sell my vehicle to the state for half book value. Think of the money they could save! Inflated book values are just for dealers and the taxman to make big money.
truck looks great, Mark! congratsenjoy it!
i've been trying to convince the wife to let me do this... i'd love an early '80s C10 as my daily. new vehicles have no soul.

I should be out in the garage/shed this weekend, I'll look for the Dizzy.
She did not, and I think she actually felt bad for me. She didn't come up with the price herself, I had to visit the division of taxation just down the hall in the same build, then came back to her. I agree 100%, NADA book values are just for tax reasons
ThanksI've seen a lot of 80's style trucks while I was looking for this one, nice looking trucks for sure. I have seen they are a bit more prone to rust/rot than the older ones though. If fuel was $3.50+ per gallon, I'd be in search of a big block for it...but 5 mpg isn't gonna cut it at those prices..haha
Agree again, new vehicles have no soul....which is one of the reasons I'd rather spend 10-15k on an older one. It'll only go up in value as long as it's kept up! Good luck convincing your wife
Cool, thanks![]()
