Keep what you already have- put a real suspension in it and call it a day.....save your money for tires and gas for all the track days you will be doing next year.
Throw 2-3k into what you recently purchased so you dont spread yourself financially thin. you can ride that both on the street and the track. That is the best way IMHO.

I am keeping my SV ... that has already been decided. The decision is whether to add a second bike to the stable, I've been shopping track bikes but may go the route you suggested Mike and just set-up my SV.
Matt no longer has a bike, the storage fees acrued have exceeded his bikes value so I have placed a mechanics lien on it... Point made?
