Granite city cycle/auto is a little shitty hole in the wall place in Quincy. Put new tires on my buddies bike last season and while working on the bike they knocked it over. Messed up the forks and broke plastics obviously. They keep saying they ordered the replacement parts but they are "on back order" They keep feeding this line and are full of shit. Also, when they put the new tires on and gave the bike back (not fixed) they didnt even have the common courtesy to take the stickers off the tires.
i'm not trying to be an asshole by any means but i also dealt with this place for new tires and they are sketchy, cash only says it all. Unfortunately its tough finding any good places to work on bikes anymore, everywhere seems generic these days.
Just wanted to post this with the weather warming up in hopes that anyone in the south shore/ quincy area look elsewhere!
Thanks for the heads up. Tires wise there are PLENTY of people here on NESR willing to do it for you, most at a very reasonable fee. Buy tires online or from a vendor here and get them changed by a member. I put more faith in some of the racing guys here then most of the bad dealerships. I always suggest Sea Coast, but thats because I go there personally. They tuned my bike and has sold gear, rented me suits before. Plus, they are ALWAYS great when we have our DucDave rides during the summer.

I used to love jumping at Quincy Quarry's

I had my GS500 fixed up at J&G Performance in Abington, I recommend them. Very nice to deal with.
What's a "reasonable" rate being charged by members on here? I Have 6 bikes and I will need tires on a couple of them very soon!
Thanks

I charge $20 a tire if you bring in the wheels, $30 each if you bring the whole bike. $7 a tire disposal if you don't take the old tires. I'm in Taunton.
That sucks, no doubt. That's why I do what Nick (ff37buell) does and just get my tires at the track, but then again, I'm there often enough that it's convenient for me. If that weren't the case then I would certainly give my business to one of the fine NESR members who do tire changing like Degsy or Tricky Mike.
FYI, I understand why this would concern you...
... but I regularly go out onto the track on brand new tires with the stickers still on them. So while it might matter to you, I (and most all other racers that I've seen) have absolutely no issues with riding on tires with the stickers still on them.

well at the time when i went to this place i was very new on here and wasnt aware how close knit of a community it was and wasnt aware that people offered services like that. now that i do i recommend NESR to all my friends and now have someone to go to for tires, Degsy, and hopefully will be able to avoid having my friends screwed over too.
One place I might look into is FMS cycles who is located in foxboro now
(i think) down rt 1 way past the satdium and moms. Went to them when i had my yamaha fzr back in college when i was in franklin
Yeah I hear ya. First time I had tires mounted I went to a local place too and it ended up costing me over 100 bucks just to have them mounted.

Who on here does tires in the North Shore/Southern NH area? I need a new set this year and didn't really care for Leighton's Cycles when we did my wife's tires a couple years ago....
i gave them my street bodywork a few years ago to fix over the winter.
never touched them & handed them back covered in dust.
he ended up giving me a free inspection because he felt bad.
talk to the owner (calmly) about your concerns. i believe it's the big guy with the beard. he will at least try to make things right.
there was a place in worcester that when I went and talked to them about tires (buying and installing there) they said $100 a tire. I just laughed. Place just closed last month. Cheers.
I understand bike season is much shorter, but you cannot charge $180 more than online pricing on 2CTs PLUS $200 to put two tires on.

The sticker has warnings for the customer. The dealer is not supposed to remove the sticker.

Some of the stickers even say "installer-do not remove"
Pinhead: went to cooks for an inspection and they wouldnt inspect my bike, rear directions integrated into the tail light, least the guy was honest and said it would fail. went to another place and they said, as long as you have directionals and they work. but i will say the guy was honest so i respect that.
and to jimmy 2 shots: you gave the body work to granite? my buddy literally goes in or calls every week or 2 and its the same bullshit so who knows! just sucks cuz my buddy found the plastics online and just wants to print it out and bring it in but its kinda retarded that he has to do their research for them.
THEY dropped the bike
THEY should fix it
i guarantee Better Business Bureau doesnt back them
