Lauren/FemmeKat and I went to visit Mr. Kates yesterday to get our suspensions set up. Took him all of 10 mins to set it up, although he claimed that he wouldn't be able to set the sag to my weight without respringing. We ended up there for about an hour talking and shooting the poop. Awesome guy to deal with, he knew more about my bike then anyone i've met so far. And for 25bucks, holy crap what a difference in the bike! Its like buttah, much more stable, turn in is effortless but not tippy, tracks better over bumps, etc. I can't even imagine what the man could do with an aftermarket suspension. I'll deffinately be bringing any suspension work I need done to him.

I had him do the suspension on my old CBR and it was great for good money but he lives in east bum fuck MA which kinda sucks.

Lol yeah but I don't know of anyone closer with the expertise he has also it only took me an hour on the bike to get there from the Ma/Nh border by 495. So thats really not all that bad.

He's getting my shock and forks this winter for rebuild & setup. I look forward to it. Part of me feels like I should have the bike and me there so he can dial it, but I hear he's such a wizard that he can do it w/ just the parts if I tell him what I weigh in my race gear.

I was impressed because when I went I told him my weight and he had to re spring my forks. Then he set up my sag and other stuff but he did it without me on the bike. He just pushed on the handle bars fiddled with some shit and said their ya go.

I'm curious if he'll have to respring my forks. It's supposedly set up for a 180lb rider. I'm about that in my birthday suit, but probably closer to 200 in gear.

Would highly recommend seeing Peter for all suspension work. He completely setup my Hayabusa, Penske shock, resprung the forks, and dialed in everything. What a huge difference it made in the overall handeling of the bike.

About every 5000 miles. Shock oil too. You're due.

Do you hit people with their shock/fork components if you open them up and see they're WAY past "should have been serviced"? If so, are you very strong? I bought my bike used this season, I swear!

Hey Pete, this fall we're gonna work on the SMC. It's just too stiff and skates at the slightest hints of bumps while leaned over. The only place I felt I had any traction was the bowl.

I've been told the stock springs up front are long, and under a lot of preload and that the high speed compression damping is too much. In any case I want to head towards a softer set-up that will hook up at high lean angles. This thing has clearance and I want to use it!
