Canaan is ON!

In case there were any rumors to the contrary - Penguin will be running both Saturday and Sunday at Canaan. You can ride either day or both, and if the turnout is light on either day then we will just spend lots of time working 1 on 1 with the students that we have.

This is a track day format that will have lots of fun as part of the day. Classes are optional - but we'll bet you'll want to participate in all we have to offer. If you are coming to learn, you can expect a unique curriculum that will work on body position, learning to dissect a new corner and techniques for freeing up traction in several types of corners. By running both directions, Canaan has positive camber and off camber turns, increasing and decreasing radius, sharp turns and flowing turns. Come join us for the fun!

This sounds like fun. Would this be a good one for newbies? Do you know what the start/end hours are for each day?

I might rent the Kawi 300 if I can't get my SV prepped in time.

It would be GREAT for newbies. We will be riding from 9-5 each day and you'll want to be at the track by 7 (camping the night before is FREE). We do have a Ninja 300 available and it would be a super fun bike on this track!

This is tempting. I have a K1300s that I toss around okay on the street, but I'm assuming that wouldn't be the bike for this track. A 300 might be a grin-fest.

Eric -- understanding that a motard or 300 might be the best tools for this track, is it right that if I just want to turn some laps, get to know the place, work on skills and have fun, a middleweight (not in top gear) would do just fine?

My wife just surprised me last night with this for Sunday, best gift ever . 1/2 on her Baghira 660 and 1/2 on a rental motard. I might have a helmet dilemma, both of mine are from 08 or 09.

I can't speak for Eric, but your helmet should be fine. 5 year rule is for racing.

This event was awesome! The only disappointment is that I could only ride on Saturday.

The Penguin rental Ninja 300 was a blast to ride and I felt confident relatively quickly after a long hiatus from the track. The layout at Canaan flowed nicely and has potential to be a super fun club track. I have to admit that I wasn't 'bitten by the track bug' the first time I went to an event some 8 years ago, but after riding Canaan with Penguin, I'm looking forward to getting out there again next season.
