When most people think of Penguin they immediately think of racing....which makes sense, since there is "racing" in our name and we have been at the track for almost 40 years. However, last season we ran a program on all of our Fridays that was different from what we had always done....melding the basic and advanced courses into a street rider curriculum that focused just on riding, and not on racing. We put in some sensible passing restrictions for rider comfort and created the Penguin Track Experience, a track-day style class with full access to the Penguin staff and instruction. 35-time LRRS champion Scott Greenwood headed up the program and the participants really loved it.
2011 Deal: More Dates!
Penguin now has 8 dates that you can participate in this Track Experience program. We have our convenient Friday dates before each LRRS event, and as a result of student requests have now added our special 2 Day school on Weds-Thursday before the Loudon Classic. These days are normally $280, or $250 for pre-registration. Our 2011 Season Package Deal is a great value for anyone looking for track time this season. For $999 you get any 5 of the 8 days that are available. No reservations needed...if there is bad weather or something comes up at the last minute, just hit the next one.
Other Details
As an added measure of security, these packages can be given away or sold to another party if something happens during the season. Plus, if you decide to ride more than 5 days, extra events are only $175. We feel that this is a really solid deal for someone who wants track time this year...it offers access to the full Penguin staff of championship instructors, 6 convenient Friday dates, admission into the 2 day school, all at less than $200/day. Thanks for taking a look, we hope to see you at the track in 2011! Full details can be found here: https://www.penguinracing.com/pages/...ckage_deal.cfm
2011 Dates: 4/15, 5/13, 6/15, 6/16, 7/22, 8/19, 9/2, 10/14
Have prices been set for race bike rentals this year, and will they all be M696s or are there any SS's in the fleet still?
(Will there be rental transponders to go with rental bikes?)
How much track time/how much class time? What level groups?
EVERYTHING is a repost

Rental prices remain at $250 for the school, and the price goes down if you rent over the weekend as well. They are still SS's mainly. We do have a Monster to rent, but the cost to crash it is significantly higher than the SS models.
For racing, LRRS will have rental transponders for all new riders. Riders with 3weekends experience will have to have their own, and it transfers from bike to bike.
Thanks for the clarification. I'm trying to figure a way to keep my license alive at minimal cost, looks like there won't be any escaping buying a transponder even if it's just to show up for one weekend. White plates and red numbers for me next year at best I guess. D-oh!
Other than Aug. 15th are you planning to add any more NJMP dates?
Our track experience class is small (average about 10 riders in season one), so we have never had an issue of track density or a large disparity in speed causing a problem. If it grows to the point where we need to make 2-3 groups, we will certianly do that. There is also an option to ride with the basic course as well, which has no one doing any faster than 1:23 lap times it.
Is that 3 weekends total race experience or 3 weekends in a year? I was under the impression we would be able to rent transponders every now and then just not every weekend for a full season like before.
If i show up in April with no transponder i will be turned away? This will for sure kill me making the April round, i had hope to be able buy one before the summer.
It's a little cloudy right now to be honest. I do know that after 3 weekend of racing, they want you to have your own. However, I would venture to say that you will certainly not be sent home.....not on the first weekend for sure. I think that there will be some clarification made at that event so that everyone can make the best decision.
Clarification on the transponders....it's 3 weekends for New Licensed guys. If you had a license last year, you are expected to have one. You can "rent" one for $35, but they really want to limit those to new guys and riders who need an emergency backup.
What's the weather policy for the April 15th track experience?

Penguin runs all of our events rain or shine. There is not an opportunity to cancel the day since racers always practice in the rain and we need to license new guys no matter what.
Looks like I'll be joining you on friday. Is the track open thursday night or do I have to wait until friday morning to unload my bike?
