My SV needs a couple things before it goes on the track, and tires are on the list. I'm probably renting one of your 300's on 4/29, but I was thinking of trailering up the SV if there are going to be tires available.

Or just bring the wheels
MTAG/Pirelli will be available in the south garages on the 29th if you order tires on their site they will def have them there for you and can mount and balance them on site. Welcome to Motorcycle Tires Gear

I can't speak for sure, but the penguin events I have done in the past, Steve from Dunlop Race Tire Services is usually there. Set up in the far end of the north garages (big Dunlop signs).
Thanks for the replies. I talked to Cathy on the phone and she said their sweet tire deal (I think it was on Dunlop Q3's when I was at the track last?) will be in effect, and will include mounting. So I'll probably bring at least the wheels with me, and maybe the rest of the bike.

Correct on all accounts. Dunlop should be there and there is a Penguin deal for their tires. Pirelli will also be there. I do not believe that Miles from Street and Comp will be there personally. I know that there will be someone from S&C representing but unsure if the tire machine and B-Stones (if that is your thing) will be there.
I honestly cannot say if there is a Michelin dealer on site...I know some people are running them so I have to assume so but they have never been my thing so I haven't looked into it.

Newbie questions:
Can I just bring the bike (also an SV) up to NHMS even if I'm not riding in that particular trackday? Also, I have a 2-year old Michelin Pilot Power on the rear, but I'd like to replace the older front tire.. there shouldn't be a problem mounting something similar, even if a different brand or slightly different compound, right?

You'll need to stop at the gate, sign the waiver and likely pay the normal gate fee, FYI.
I've had tire customers come on Thursday/Friday, explain at the gate that they were coming in only to see a vendor, and not be charged any sort of fees. These have always been people driving in with their loose wheels, I'm not sure if the same would apply to someone riding in. If riding in, you'll certainly need to make arrangements to remove your wheels(which means tools, stands), as I don't believe any of the tire vendors specifically offer on the bike service at the track(perhaps your vendor of choice can loan you tools and stands, I know I've done done this before). I have known Peter Kates(GMD) to remove people's wheels for a fair fee, but with this being the first race weekend I'd expect him to be busy, and wouldn't count on it without talking to him first.
As for tire selection, ideally, you want a front and rear that "match," at least in profile. That's good practice. If you call or PM the Michelin rep in advance, I'm sure they could guide you to something suitable to match your PP.

There always seems to be confusion on this... If going in on Thursday or Friday be very clear with the people working at the gate that you are not staying for racing. You are not spending the night. You are going in to conduct business with one of their vendors. There shouldn't be a "bracelet" for this. There shouldn't be a charge for this. You do still have to sign the infield waver.
I agree most people probably drive in, but I've ridden in, multiple times, so yes it is possible (but I ride a bike that clearly won't be used for racing).
+1 I've never been charged to get in on Friday.
You can even come in during the evenings during the weekend for free (I *assume* you could come in before it starts as well, but haven't tried). As long as racing is done there isn't a charge for "being there" (camping excepted).
Michelin will be there Thursday. EVO Challenge tire promo is running.
