We're looking forward to the first weekend coming up. Things are looking good - the weather will be in the 50's and it looks like we will have a dry 3 day weekend, which is always a good thing. Just a reminder to everyone that there are a few new things going on this weekend (most of you are 100% up to speed), including a new registration process for pre entries that let you skip the long Friday night registration line, mandatory Eject systems for helmets (race weekend only - it is NOT required for the school on Friday), and the Rookie Race is back to the first race on Saturday.
School
Basic, Track Experience and Advanced will all be running on all Fridays before the race weekends. The 2-Day school before the national is well past halfway full, so if you want to get in on that please reserve early. Later in the season Penguin will be piloting an optional 1 on 1 program in the afternoon - stay tuned for details. The Penguin School Package ($999) gets you 5 school days for a significant discount, and anyone who wants to sign up for this at the event can credit the full $280 tuition towards this package for the season.
Friday Practice
Very similar to years past - $150 for six sessions, starting at 10A.M. with AM/EX Big Bike. Since the Rookie Race is now on Saturday, we now have an extended session for each group early in the afternoon (second round after lunch). Experienced Novice riders can also now practice in the AM/EX Sessions in the afternoon (instead of combining with Basic), making it better both for these experienced guys and the Basic students. In order to run in the Am/Ex sessions, you must be able to run times that are within 3 seconds of the bump time for your Novice class (this will be our starting baseline, and we will evaluate from there).
The best deal here is to go for the season pass for $699. This gets you admission to all of our Friday Practices plus the special Thursday practice before the classic (which is running in the afternoon on Thursday until 7PM). New for 2012, you can transfer these passes to another rider for $25 (so if you sell it for $100, it's still less than pre registering on the PRS site)....making these packages even more valuable. If you have not signed up for a practice pass yet, Penguin will credit your $150 on Friday towards the season pass.
I just bought the 5 day package, see you Friday for the Race School!
