Block is good, heads are good.
Port head gasket let go and water mixed with the oil. There were women and children onboard at the time so I ran it til it popped. I believe a con rod snapped. The engine was at low RPM (1500-1800 ish) when it took its final breath. Poked a hole in the steel oil pan but no other damage to the block.
I can deliver for a fee or you are more than welcome to pick up from my house. I will help load if need be.
Engine is clean, all hardware is in great condition. It is my belief the builder did not torque the heads properly.
Excellent candidate for a long block rebuild or sell the heads and pocket $500.

Hmmmm.... where are you, again? Somewhere in NH, right?
I have an idea, and this might fit the bill nicely. I assume your holding on to the outdrive, though right?
Yeah. Unless something has changed Bergs is about 20 minutes east of you.
This is, for the most part, block and heads only. I can throw in the power steering pump and bracket if you need it. I was otherwise going to keep it as a spare. Have a non-marine starter as well.
No outdrive or transom assembly.
And, yes, as Jason has indicated, I am local to you.
Hey, sorry the power outage has had my attention elsewhere.
I'm actually up in Moultonborough now as of this summer (need to update my info), but I am pretty interested. I'm thinking of picking up a bare hull, and rebuilding this to go in it.
If you're around Sunday I should have time to make the trip down to check it out. Do you have a hoist to get it in the back of a 1/2 ton pickup, or should I plan on bringing one?
This might already be spoken for. Going to get in touch with the person today and see what scheduling looks like.
If it doesn't work out, I can absolutely do Sunday. I'll keep this thread updated.
No worries on getting it loaded. I have machines and hoists available. Just bring a tire or two so we can tuck the oil pan into it.
Ok, hopefully they back out I guess. I'll definitely take it Sunday, if they do.
This thing is gone.
