1999 SV 650 Race Bike SOLD
SOLD
I'm so depressed, but it went to a good home. If anyone is looking for SV stuff though:

http://www.nestreetriders.com/forum/...rks-built.html
http://www.nestreetriders.com/forum/...ors-rains.html (may be a sale pending on these)
I'll be putting up more stuff as well.
So the desire to build a new house and the fact that I am not actively racing or running track days right now has caused me to consider getting rid of the race bike. Figured I would check for some indications of interest here first before putting it out to the general public.
1999 Suzuki SV 650 Race Bike
Galfer Stainless steel Superbike lines (circa 8/07)
Vesrah Pads (circa 8/07)
New front calipers (circa 09/07)
New master cylinder, 2nd gen SV (circa 09/07)
Galfer Wave rotors front/rear
Afam front/rear sprocket 15/45
DID ERV3 520 Chain (rivet link)
Penske double clicker w/remote compression resevoir
Gold emulators in forks
Preload adjusters
Woodcraft rearsets
Scotts damper
Cut wiring harness
Smaller battery
GP tech fairing stay
Steering head bearings done last season
Yosh RS3 full system
factory Pro Detent Kit w/Shift Star
Suspension and geometry always handled by GMD, this includes sweet numbers. In reality, the first time I brought the bike to PK I just about spent more on the suspenion than I did on the bike. Frame was straight, but had to tweak the forks. Emulators were added, correct fork springs (155lb rider), cut spacers and preload adjusters. Rear shock was rebuilt, sprung and valved. Remote compression was added.
Bike has been to GMD for suspension service every season I have owned it except 08 as it has not moved. Steering head bearings done last year. Sweet numbers done again to run Pirellis.
Regarding the wiring harness, it has been cut down to only the bare necessities. I have a copy of the wiring diagram you can use should you run into any problems. The fan has been removed, no I have not had any overheating issues. I have opted for a smaller battery (sorry the nomeclature is escaping me) to drop a decent amount of weight. The battery has relativley no problems starting the bike with the exception of cold mornings, first/last of the season. Of course it is easy enough to jump if need be or you can go back to a stock battery. The keyed ignition has been removed and replaced with a toggle switch.
Crankcase breathers have been vented to a catch can rather than the airbox.
There is a minor issue with the rear brake. One of the previous owners cut the supply line and plugged it. I've always maintained fluid in the line and the brake works if you need it, but if you are someone that uses the rear brake on a regular basis you will want to replace the supply line and add a resevoir.
Bike has been down 5 times since i've owned it, always brought back to PK to ensure it was straight.
The bike runs strong, podiumed as an amateur multiple times with it. To the best of my knowledge there has never been any motorwork done. I've run it for 3 seasons with no motor problems. Visually the bike may not be the most stunning but it is nothing a couple hours of elbow grease can't fix. Fully safety wired. If you are looking for a LW race bike, here it is. I can gather more pics if requested, you can also see pics here Rebellious Photos :: LRRS 10/06/2007 as well as by searching number 165 on owens site.
Would be looking to be at $3,000.

Re: 1999 SV 650 Race Bike (testing the waters)
:sad2:
I swear, someone here better buy this thing & keep it in the family so Mark can get her back once he realizes how silly the thought of selling it really is ;)
Re: 1999 SV 650 Race Bike (testing the waters)
Thanks Pete, but I think this is the right thing to do now. i'd like to head out one for time but in the end I think going out after a good AM season is better than getting my ass handed to me as an EX and being pissed. If I went out now, I would be nowhere near where I left off last year.
as a plus for you and the other SV guys there will be some parts going up for sale as well, forks (cough), full rain set up (cough), other good stuff
Re: 1999 SV 650 Race Bike (testing the waters)
Oohh... I could be interested in the rims/rains.
edit: errr, wait.... I've got a 2nd gen, I'd have to make some spacers or somethin
Re: 1999 SV 650 Race Bike
hhmmm, maybe theres a way you can make captive spacers/bearings. quick change to the rains.
Re: 1999 SV 650 Race Bike
There's a guy on eBay who makes captive spacer kits to make first gen wheels fit newer SVs. Don't remember the name, but a quick search should turn it up.

Re: 1999 SV 650 Race Bike
I would swap you a stock front wheel and rotors for that one And give some $$$$$ to make it even I want those rotors
Re: 1999 SV 650 Race Bike
not trying to part out whats actually already attached to the bike
Re: 1999 SV 650 Race Bike
Wow wish I had a real good reason to buy this..Good luck with the sale :)
If you want Mike or I to repost this on Born, let me know, there are a number of members intersted in this bike for racing next year up to you.
I'll def talk about it tonight when we all get together..
Re: 1999 SV 650 Race Bike
Those are exactly the ones I had seen, yeah.
Re: 1999 SV 650 Race Bike

yeah it sucks, but to be honest there were multiple factors involved. i love to race, but at this point i can't say i'm willing to put everything on the line for it. if i can't give it everything, wheres the fun? i will be up there though cheering on the brave souls that remain.
Re: 1999 SV 650 Race Bike
I think this is coming home with me on Saturday.
Re: 1999 SV 650 Race Bike
My interest is piqued. I think it's about time for another track bike. I'm watching...
