First ride and she runs mint, needed only a few things (tail light bulb and some contact cleaner in the headlight switch) to get her down the road for a shake down. Going to do a full service over the winter (oil, filter, air filter, brake fluid flush & caliper rebuild, new pads and some fresh rubber) and leave her pretty much as is. She works too well and is so unmolested this one won't be modded much.
where do people keep finding these things? everytime i have money i can never find something like this.
Took me 3 years. Even dragged my feet in this a tiny bit, once he sent me pics of the title it was game over.

I'm somewhat shocked Gino, part of why these bikes are so damn cool is that they are the smaller versions with street-attainable performance. I would LOVE an RC30/45 parked in my garage but here's an interesting tale, told to me so forgive the lack of references:
When Irimijira (sic ?), (worked with Mr Honda on 1960s GP bikes, CBX, VFR etc) retired, they [Honda] told him he could have anything he wanted that Honda made. I think this was just when the NSX came out. Everyone expected him to request an NSX. Instead he took 1-2 each of all of those 1990s 400s they made. RVF. VFR. CBR. He said that they were the perfect motorcycles.
and really the earlier gen seems to be the better performer for both the big and little ones. I will say I did like the RC30 better than the 45 when I rode them. Still haven't gotten a chance to ride either 400.Quote:

Where / when did you get to ride the RC30 and RC45?
I've always liked the later styling much better. riding the RC30 changed my mind on how it looks, the grin on your face while sitting on it makes you forget that its not the prettiest. I rode them both at Grattan. Ridden the 30 the last 2 years and one of the other guys brought his 45 this year and let me ride it. The guy with the 45 also has an RC30 that he's been rebuilding for a few years now and just bought a 400 recently. He has an awesome collection of bikes. I also rode his XR650R, man that thing is weird (never rode any dirt bike other than a CRF50). check my facebook for pics of me on the RC30 and the XR. I don't think I have any on the 45 though. See what you've missed all these years by not attending this event? I think I rode 5 bikes other than my own last year, could have been six but I forget if I rode a friends 954. I blew a spark plug out of that the year before. The owner of that bike set his best ever lap times there on my bike.
