Indian really forced Harley to stop resting on their laurels. I truly believe if not for Indian, a lot of the new advancements & step-ups in technology would've taken a lot longer than it has.

"Competition improves the breed" The dealership where I'm getting my Triumph is an Indian dealer. They do make a nice line of bikes, the stylings isn't necessarily my taste, but the attention to detail is obvious.
The styling is exactly why I'm NOT on an Indian bagger. I believe the Chieftain is the Street Glide counterpart, and I really tried to like them. The 116 Thunderstroke sounds like it's an amazing engine. But I can't get past the styling. Visually, there's very little that appeals to me with their baggers.

My neighbor has an Indian Roadmaster and it just might be the ugliest bagger I've ever seen. Not to mention the numerous problems he has had with it in the past year of ownership.
Cheap quality peripherals/controls/buttons/switches just make everything seem incredibly.... cheap.
Before buying my first Harley bagger I went and looked at them and really wanted to like 'em but damn.
Say what you want about Harley and they may be a step or two behind in tech advancements but the things just work, run and go seemingly forever.
