If you go to the Alta forums, one of the Alta guys gave a good writeup of what went wrong with their plan. Short form they underestimated the amount of wheel spin on some of the climbs, as well as not expecting their rider to be as fast as he was. This is after two of the four bikes sent over for the event were stolen in route to Erzberg so they could only field one rider instead of two.
every winter my neighbor and i jones to relive the three-wheeler days ... he just sent me this:

Interesting, Alta didn't bother water cooling the motor, just the inverter/power section. This has a smaller batt pack and larger motor/gearing setup than the Alta, very curious to see what numbers it's hitting.
Looks nice. It's literally a CRF450 with an electric plant. Which would make parts (and maybe conversions) pretty sweet.

Specs and colors match too. Wonder how much Segway charges to put their decal on it?

$4k starting price for the base model, $4.5k starting price for the higher end unit. And yeah, comparing pics it's clearly bred from Sur-Ron stock.
KTM is listing the Freeride E-XC for the US again as a 2020 model. At least one has sold that I'm aware of via YouTube out of a dealership in PA. Local Maine dealer doesn't get the option to order them so looks like another VERY limited rollout. Should have the new battery pack that everywhere else but the US got, but of course no hard specs posted anywhere to confirm that with.
I seem to recall Adam's local dealership (Edlemans?) posting that they had a few, maybe a month or 2 ago? i could be way off there.
I looked everywhere after they posted about them because I REALLY want one of these, but I can't find any reliable info regarding battery life in time/miles.
One item I was able to track down is KTM STILL hasn't learned from their first try with these bikes in the US, the charger is 220v only. Even EV car mfgs provide a 110v 12A charger setup with their products, and you're talking WAY larger batts.
The EU KTM listing shows the batt pack as a 3.9Kwh unit, I can't see them still shipping the prior gen smaller version for the US only so I'll assume that's what it's got here as well. Figure 65% ride time/distance as the Alta with is 5+ Kwh pack?
You're right, found the Edlemann's post. They're saying 30 mins at race pace, up to two hours trail use. 45min charge time (If you've got 13A of 220v handy...)
another player in the electric MX space.. .

That is beautiful. I wonder if the shadows/render are hiding some oddities, but then again I don't really care.
A man of many names...Jay, Gennaro, Gerry, etc.
agreed, love the styling. looks hot without any loud graphics ... would love to see a version in a tiddler chassis.

I really do like it. The bike looks great.
