I'm paid and in, KIR and Never Ever
Tentative for the May 10 School, depending on finances. Need to see about the rest of my race gear, get my truck fixed and on the road (who knew getting a couple pieces of pipe bent and welded would be so damn expensive?!) and finish the boat, we'll see what's left after that.

Still thinkin about it, I should just sign up and get it over with haha. 3 times on a dirt bike is enough experience right?
yup

3x is enough experience.
I was in same boat as you (roadracer gone 250 2 stroke for first dirtbike).
1-2 days on the 2 stroke and I was at the track with a HUGE grin.
You know your throttle control - you'll be fine.
Plus it's all sand, so you'll just screen the competition behind ya

Ok so I'm thinkin Never Ever and 250 Hack.... the Keepin It Real class seems to be what all you guys are running but I'm thinkin an open class is a little much?
There should be some fast guys in the Keepin it real.
^true, but Ryan keep in mind that it isn't like road racing. For example, If I am out on the track at the same time as jeff wood it is downright dangerous for all of us. For mx, if you are out there with billy ainsworth and john dowd it really isn't the same as long as they know there are slower people out there. A nice big track like southwick you have plenty of room to get whooped by fastass dudes darting around you...I should know![]()

+1 to what paul said. there are lines around the track you couldn't see even after you've screwed up everything on your line. pick a corner and ask any one of the fast guys to tell you about their reference points. most will have more points in one corner than a novice has on the whole track and they are all very situation dependent.

Well, it's more severe if you go down, so, yes, you are right about that.
But I've never seen a local fastguy take out a slow rider. Despite all the talk about dangerous closing speeds, its usually guys going about the same pace that take each other out IMO. It's almost always at the corner entry.
alright I'm all signed up, I ended up going with Keepin it Real and Never Ever
Signed up for the sunday practice too.
can't wait!

just saw this in the most recent email. going to be some full gates for the classes we all seem to be running. good times. i really need to get that engine from Jane and get my ass out!
"Many classes are filling up fast with the Keeping it real, 30c, 40c, and never ever classes each having only a few spots left. So if you know of anyone who wants in on this event please encourage them to sign up online or pass on the reg form (attached) and have them send it in with their payment."

Is there going to be camping Fri night? or do I have to wake my ass up and leave at like 3am to get down there.
straight from Dave... yup - gates will open friday night - probably after 5 or 6pm - we will have a check in so you can confirm your name, riding number and classes friday night and we will be set to get started early saturday
trying to do all registration stuff friday night so pretty much everyone is coming in friday night
Beta 200RR
Looks like there will be a good turnout, contrary to NESC and NEMA. Last weekend NESC had around 300 riders. A normal turnout used to be 700+. I think NEMA had around 250 at Southwick last weekend.
So what's the deal with registering Friday night?
People camping, hoteling, heading up early birdie Sat am?
Pretty sure I don't want to be scrambling to reg, etc. the morning of (BMFR6 style that is...).
And where are you all getting numbers from?? What's the novice color pattern or does it not matter?

I'm pretty sure colors won't matter as all classes are seperate. All I have to do is take some black vinyl and cover a number. Numbers are cheap at any shop, just make sure the colors contrast so they are easy to read.
Have an email in to Dave now and will let you know for sure.
I'm heading up Friday night and tenting it so I don't have to get up at 5 sat morning. Plus I want a decent spot.
So this is what Dave said:
"the better we can identify you the more accurate the scoring will be for you and everyone in your class - so i would make a sign with your numbers and carry it with you around the track
"
So basically I was correct. Just make sure the numbers are highly visible, and jersey or chest protector numbers are a good idea to make sure you get scored. I think I might tape a 2 foot sign to my head, that way when I cross the finish line in dead last the checkers will know that they can send the next class off the like.
Now I have to make sure my bike still starts. It's only been 2 years since I kicked it over and it's 11 years old.![]()
i'm planning to camp on Fri night, gates/reg will begin around 5 or 6PM. i dont want to scramble either so i figure camp right there is the best option.
i was going to manually do my backgrounds and numbers but decided to try DeCal Works for some faaancy pre-printed # plates. came out fantastic and didnt cost all that much really. shipped super fast too
