The more I think about this, the more I really can't see anything good coming from this. Oh well, it should be entertaining if nothing else![]()
I've got a handful of reasons to ride one of your bikes.
-brakes
-wierd undiagnosed engine noise
-I've got an old beat up 125
-you've got nice bikes, both 250's
-I'm in love with that yamaha
I've also got a handful of reasons not to ride one of your bikes.
-Not my bikes
-not used to them
-Not my bikes
-250's, which I have very little experience on
-Not my bikes
-I'm far more used to and comfortable on my own 125
-Not my bikes
-Would not have an excuse to be DFL or finish last.
I'm going to ride the KX, assuming I can get it to pass tech in time. I do appreciate the offer though.
Man I hope I still know how to ride. Been 2 years since I fired the bike up, still not even sure it runs yet!![]()
ps- anyone who looks half decent in my keep it real race I am not giving any of my start secrets to![]()

Davo suggested that to me when I told him how completely green I am. Still considering it, but at the same time a gate drop on a dirt bike sounds like sooo much fun. I just don't know.
I'm not going to look half decent, or even 1/4 decent, guaranteed. Can I get some tips?

I would call it more of a rush than fun. That first turn is real fuckin tight. It's pretty common to be rubbin plastic, tires and pushing with your elbows as you round the turn. Just don't go down if you are anywhere in the front or mid-pack because you will probably have knobbie marks on ya!
Starts are different for everyone. Each has a different strategy/technique, but basically you just try to get a good launch off the gate and pin-it to the first turn. Maintain traction and go through the gears, see if you make it there first. If you don't, just try everything you can to make sure you don't end up on the ground. Eyes open and find the pockets that you can make it through. Watch your sides for guys that are cutting across and might whipe you out.
^Yep, since the gate drop thing is new for alot of you its upto you if you want to be aggressive on the gate drop or not..if you do then come see me and I can probably give you a few little things to help with a good start.
Personally I start in 2nd gear and once I'm past the gate I hold it wide and click through gears without letting off. I slip the clutch a bit as I grab each shift. I definitely don't suggest 2nd gear for everyone but I love it, I also started the same way on 125s.
