Dreams of helicoil with the head in place were just dreams, so now this...

Not mine but got a 99 gsxr 600 that I'm getting going for my step brother (he bought it brand new back in 99) gas tank and carbs are in worse shape then I've ever seen and I've seen some pretty funky rusted up shit before. 2 pilot jets broke upon removal, so they are getting a pb soak and easy outed tomorrow (because it's sooo easy) trying to decide whether to do a vinegar soak or rig up an electrolysis contraption to clean the tank. I'll be shocked if there's anything left of the tank when the rust is gone.
I’m so mad at myself right now. I never checked all my suspension settings from when I got the stuff back from being tuned. I just swapped wheels and was getting myself sorted and found I’d been running around with everything set to full stiff. Sunday was a wasted opportunity at this point.
I’m boiling. I do, and should've known better.

I've never ridden a bike full stiff. Seems like it would cause problems.

Yesterday I finished putting this ol' brute back together. She runs and works as should now. Plan to bring 'er to bike week.
Then tore into this one:
Fresh oil, filter and clean air-cleaner. Forks are off and ready for mid-season-as-budget-allows refresh. Springs, oil, seals and misc tools are inbound. Plan to dig into these next week, maybe week after. No idea what I'm doing with dual-chamber forks.. but I watched a yuutube.. so.. you know.. should be good to go.

I thought bike week was exclusively for Harley dad's with New Balances?

If there's a purgatory I'm pretty sure it's just an endless line of stripped threads and shitty Chinese helicoil kits.
Being the genius I am I of course didn't bother with a test run, just drilled into my cylinder head. By some stroke of luck I didn't ruin anything important (yet). I knew this cheap kit would be difficult so it was no surprise that I went through a dozen coils. The insert tool is too wide, so once you screw the new coil down it compresses and locks up.
BUT, managed to get two coils done, a third almost done until the insert tool broke. Hopefully a little Dremel action and I can get it wrapped up and button her up by weekend.

Boots for the VF1000R came in. Got a 3 day weekend so going to rebuild the carbs and then hate my life trying to reinstall them. Joy.

Bought some frame sliders and engine guards a couple years ago and finally installed them today.

Bought some irons and changed my tires, first time I've done that. PR4s are really stiff, took quite a bit of effort. Also changed all brake pads and rebuilt the rear caliper cause one of the pistons was dragging.

Washed the klx after 235 miles yesterday, mostly dirt roads and trails...the whole time had very little duplication but I don't think I was ever more than about 35 miles from my house.
Yup. Race rubber is even easier.
My katiem got an oil change, fresh air cleaner. Clutch fluid transfusion. And a blingie new brake lever.
New chain and sprockets for the DR: DID 520NZ-110 chain, JT front sprocket and decided to try a Sunstar E-Nickel Works Z rear, I stumbled on a crazy Amazon deal and scored the Sunstar for $20. Think it was a mistake because the price went back up to $70 right after I bought it...
14T/48T definitely geared for dirt a bit

De-rusted the fuel system on the FZR, new fuel filters, tank is off and getting evaporusted currently.
Cleaned the WR. Considering shortening up the gearing from 13/47 to 12/47 before the next Boxshop round.
Looked at the KTM, still orange.
Didn't look at the R6.
