For those not on the NEAR list, this was an email sent asking about interest in holding a LRRS event there.
Folks,
You may have heard that we had our public Course Clearing and Naming
ceremony last week. Our new facility has been named Valley
Motorsports Park (VMP). About 150 people attended.
Now that we have formally kicked off construction, I would like to
gauge interest in having a LRRS event held at VMP (in Tamworth, NH.
I am NOT saying that any deals have been struck. We are still in the
investigational stages.
However, it would be very helpful if we could get your inputs into
how interested you are about running at VMP. Fees would be about the
same with first class facilities. Garage space will be available as
will electric.
If you are interested in coming to VMP, please email me off list at
mbotan@corse-moto.com. I am not asking for any commitment, I just
want to get an idea of how many of you would come to have fun on our
circuit. You can also get more details on VMP by going to
www.corse-moto.com or www.clubmotorsports.com
As usual, you can also call me if you have any questions at
603.233.0650.
Thanks,
Mike Botan

I would love to see it happen, but I don't think it will be done.

Contrary to popular belief once the land is cleared road laying including tarmac can be done in a relatively short period of time so if things go on schedule the actual laying of the track is really not a huge undertaking once they have the right equipment.
It's the building of the clubhouses and buildings that will take the most time..
So what may end up happening is a really nice track with little or no buildings up and working, so trailers would do for a track day and porta potties.......

They'll still log and clear cut during the winter. I'm with Mick on this one, pavement down but very little for facilities, is my guess.Originally posted by Collision pro

We will have to wait and see. Other tracks that said the same thing, they are going on 3-4 years now.

Count me among the wildly optimistic, but feet firmly in reality crowd. While I would love to see it in '04, talking to the No.1 expert on this site that we have in the site prep world: not too likely.
Check in with Bob M (the 106 Ducati) and he'll tell you there's no where near enough heavy-duty earth moving equipment within miles of that place even to get pavement down before late summer/early fall. If I see some serious work don by May though, I just might see about reserving a date.

Paving is not as simple as just clearing the land, smoothen out the bumps and lay some pavementThe whole area to be paved "should" excavated and the fill replaced with all the same type material for 3-4' in depth, not to mention being compacted every 6-8" in layers as the new fill is brought in. Some of us construction workers see this crap everyday, that's prolly why some of us think it is very unrealistic to be done in time
I hope it happens but i'm not expecting it

Not a slight on Bob, 'cuz I know he knows his stuff. But how the hell would he know what type of equipment is where up here? There ARE commercial paving companies in NH ya know...Originally posted by SprintPoser

what I meant was there isn't enough big-ass earth-moving Terex and Caterpillar trucks on that site yet. If they have any hope of their announced opening date, they should aleady have a LOT of excavation done before it's ten-feet-deep in the white shit.
As someone else pointed out, paving is just the last step, the underlayment is the important part. Given the range of climate, they will need a REALLY deep road bed to avoid getting huge frost heaves in it during these "great white north" winters.
But....WTF do I know? I'm a machinist, not a road builder.![]()

Interesting reading indeed. From the looks of that, the CMI group is still facing many hurdles, including that of not having enough funds to complete the project.
I wish them well, as the racing community is in dire need of an alternative to NHIS. Wanna see the local opposition drop their guns? Propose putting in a huge junkyard, a hazardous waste site, and/or a casino of the race track doesn't fly.![]()

Two Minor Updates:
1. (9/10/09) Club Motorsports Inc. (owner of Valley Motorsports Park) made a Rule 506/Reg. D SEC filing yesterday that shows it has raised $1.2 million of a slated maximum offering amount of $2 million.
http://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/da...rimary_doc.xml
2. (8/25/09) Recent CMI press release confirms the extension of most permits until 2013-2015 and gives the status of the legal quest to convert logging roads into paved access roads: it has an outstanding motion for summary judgment on file with the Carroll County Superior Court.
