Grind down the welds, slip the sprocket off, slip new one back on and weld it back up again

Thankfully this is not one of my bikes.

Sadly it is not an unknown thing in the Hawk GT world.

There is a problem with striping the output shaft and this is a stupid "solution"

    Re: From the "WTF" Department.

Grind weld off, tap out hole to larger size, problem solved.

I once bought a pitbike that came with the flywheel welded to the crank. Had to just put in a whole new bottom end.

It's a splined output shaft. Or was splined, just like the front sprocket had teeth at one point. If the splines wear out you either replace the part or (apparently) hillbilly the hell out of it .

    That I can believe.

I inherited a transmission with the output shafts teeth all gone. Always wondered how people did that. Just a Hawk thing I guess.

That is a good picture Doc.

    Re: From the "WTF" Department.

interestingly enough, a good 5-6 years ago I found this on a buddy of mines bike... After mother fuc king the previos owner, we ground the weld down and got the sprocket off. We discovered the splines were more or less gone... ended up just welding a new one on as he didn't want to tear into the thing LOL

That one is definately not it however, my welds come out looking beautious hahahahha
