Last Wednesday I finally decided to order a electric vest after riding through last winter w/o any heated gear.
I had looked around @ different brands decided to go w/the Tourmaster Synergy vest w/the collar.
The biggest reason I went with the Synergy is because it comes w/the heat controller, which saves around $70 over the other brands. Also the review on the vest from webbikeworld.com help push me towards the Synergy line.
Quote stolen from Webbikeworld.com review:
"Winner: webBikeWorld 2007 Motorcycle Product of the Year award for Winter Motorcycle Clothing!
Summary: The prodigious amount of heat is transferred smoothly and evenly through carbon fiber fabric, so no worries about hot spots or wires.
Segment-busting price includes the controller that should come with every other heated vest but doesn't; a wiring harness for the bike that should come with every other heated vest but doesn't; and the ability to connect to any of the other Synergy heated garments.
And by the way, did I mention that this baby is hot, hot, hot?"
The vest seems to be a quality piece and the controller although very basic (3 positions) lo-med-hi, seems like it will work fine.
I installed it Friday night for the Dyno day @ Seacoast. Which took all of 10 minutes.
I purposely wore my NJK leather jacket that is liner-less and a Sugoi base layer and that's all. When I left my house it was 37F, I slabbed it from Framingham MA up to Seacoast which is about an hour ride @ around 75-80MPH.
I could not be happier w/the vest, when left my house I turned the vest on high and by the end of my street (less than 1/4 mile) I had to turn it down to med. I switched between lo-med on the ride a few times and the heated collar is great.
I have no doubt worn with my Tourmaster Transition 2 jacket I could have left the controller on lo the whole day.
I would defiantly recommend the vest to any on the fence about buying heated gear, it's one the best pieces of gear I have bought.
Big thanks to DuncanMoto.
