LRRS EX #165 (formerly)
there will be more women riders? i like it.
"fuckit!"
~ Life passes most people by while they're busy making grand plans for it.~
Now THAT is an awesome first bike...
Adjustable preload! Fuel gauge! Better clearance!
It might be time to upgrade....
Awesome looking little bike, im glad to see it redesigned finally. Unfortunately engine size is still dick size to alot of people, so like someone else said... perhaps more women riders now?
I bet it would be hella fun to rip around town on that little brapper. Fuel economy and lightweight... mm.
Depending on how much motor work they've done, that may well be competitive in PTwins. The EX500 motor is pretty old-tech and the construction is heavy, if this thing can manage ~40 horsepower and keep the weight around 350 I think it could give the EX a run for it's money.
Nice, looks like modern sportbike instead of a bike from the 80's It's about time they got a redesign.

It's spec'd as running dual 30mm CV carbs.
Looking at my handy carb sizing chart, a 30mm CV carb is suggested for 16hp to 26hp motors. Knowing Kawi, they went conservative on the carb, so it's towards the middle to upper end on HP for it's size. So I'd say the motor unrestricted could be making 40hp, but is choked to 35hp between pipe and carb selection.

Good point, the old EX250s had 30mm CVs as well, so perhaps the motor rework was not that substantial. The EX500 runs 34mm CVs.
It's about freakin' time!
I was hoping that it would have FI but I guess you can't get everything. The only other thing concerning me is the seat height (which is listed as TBD on the website). The low seat height one of the best features of the 250, especially for newbies short in stature. I can't wait to see one in person.
Regardless, I get the feeling this one will sell VERY well. There are so few decent looking "entry level" sportbikes out there. Lets hope that the 500 will be next in line for a makeover.

why does the new ex500 still look like an ugly piece of shit?
Cool, about effin time they re-designed that thing. That should make it more appealing to new riders... (and probably drop the price of the old model on the used market a bit, too).
