Hi, the name's Sean, I'm from north shore MA. Don't have a streetbike yet, but will in a few weeks.
I have spent the last 2 years riding a Sportster 1200. It was my first motorcycle. Now it bores me. Riding it has become a chore. Last riding season was nothing but a dissapointment for me, only got in 5k miles. Year before last I did 11k. It was one crappy harley issue after another last season. Plus it was uncomfortable. I have determined that riding a bike with forward controls puts a heavy tax on my back. 200 miles would have me in pain. I found myself using the passenger footpegs on any extended cruise. Not only that it was loud and ran like shit no matter what I did to the carb.
**Jump to a week and a half ago**
I was taking a stroll around a local dealership and found a bike I have never seen or heard of, the VFR 800. I have never really enjoyed the looks of sportbikes, maybe because I owned a harley, don't know. But this one really caught my attention. I love it. After going home and researching it, I have decided to sell the harley bucket and pick this guy up. I had looked at the new Connie, and really liked it, but thought it was quite large. The VFR however, fits my bill good. Comfy ergos, very sporty and I like it. Justification enough for me.
The sportster has a very eager buyer. He looked at it last weekend and we'll be finishing the deal next weekend. There is a cash hold on the VFR at the dealership until I finish everything up and get a free spot in my shed.
I know it's not going to be a track monster, or runaway from my riding partner's ZX-14. But this season I sure as hell will be tearing up the Mohawk trail and the Kanc, to name a few. Those 5-600 mile days might be just a little easier for me too. Now that I think of it, my @$$ really hated that harley.

Lot of dislike for the Viffer?????Maybe from the hard core sportbikers & wanna be posers, but not from honest street riders & sport tourers. It might be heavy & "slow" compared to the big race replicas, but the Viffer's a great street bike & can hold its own at a track day, too, no bones about it.
Welcome to the forum, hope you enjoy your stay![]()

Welcome...
You found dislike for the VFR here? That's interesting, I can't recall ever reading anything negative about the bike here or anywhere else. The Interceptor definately would have been my second choice had I not picked up the Daytona.
Hey... We hate new guys too!!!
With an intro like that you are not new anymore.
I'd like to see these posts with the hate of the VFR. Those are nice bikes!
Welcome. Stick around and Congrats on the new purchase!

Should I expect it to be worlds better than the sporty?
BTW, it's a Black 2006 with only 4200 miles on her. She is barely broken in!

GALAXIES better than the sporty
For starters, it doesn't rattle the fillings out of your head and when you twist the throttle it goes forwards instead of backwards![]()

If you haven't noticed already, you'll run into more "HD hate" here than Viffer hate. It's not that they're BAD bikes... it's just that they're not... well... GOOD
In all seriousness though, anything on two wheels is just fine by meShit, I might even put a HD in my garage one day. Whether or not it'll belong to me is a different question

Yeah I think I was thinking of another forum I was reading this morning. I work a 3rd shift and sometimes spend alot of time on the internet....
Harley's are fine bikes... For the 1%ers and the HOG Chapter wannabes.
I take my Dad's 79 FLH out every once in awhile. You have a completely different mindset than when riding a Viffer.

Forgot to ask, where abouts on the North Shore? I'm up there as well & there's a few others around, too.

Welcome Stiggs -
Good luck on the sale AND the purchase.
Post up some pix and get on some group rides
when the season is here
That's too bad about wookie, what a small world though.
I'll be in for the group rides. I was just reading all the group riding stickies. Are there any annual rides I should be putting on my calender already?
Thanks for the welcomes everyone.

Such a nice looking motorcycle.
Very nice.
No real planned group street rides just yet, but the Tony's Track Day and LRRS schedules are out if you wanna head up to Loudon NH & watch some road racing or participate in a track day geared towards street riders. There's a STRONG track community here.

Uh...I beg to differ...

And the VFR, also known as the 'Interceptor' is an AWESOME bike. It does it all reasonably well. Sport - yep...tour - yep...track - yep...cruise - yep...off road - well, not so much! An excellent choice...!!!
Hope to see you out there!!!
