I'm going to miss this bike ...
This is like a race horse braking a leg or an athlete with a career ending injury. I've always told friends and people at shows to be careful because one solid scratch in the paint and the entire paint job is ruined.
Someone hit the bike while it was in a parking spot in my apartment complex. They hit it hard enough to knock it over (kickstand side). They left a note and now I'm waiting for my insurance to get back to me.
There is no point trying to make this a show bike again unless I get a completely new paint job ... not worth my time or money. More then likely I will get what I can for this bike and use that money for current bills and my project car.
Next season I'll look into a new bike if I have the money (all go, no show).
Here are all of them:

Good news is it's most likely totaled.
Bad news is you'll have a small fight on your hand to get the full value of the bike.
Good news is you can buy back the bike from the insurance company for a lesser ammount and make a good track bike for yourself.
Sorry about your bike.
Hope to see you tonight though so we can console you.
I don't get it, you are selling the bike now or what? Sorry to hear about this misfortune
*edit* or is it enough to total it due to the value of the paint work??

Awh T, Sorry to hear. At least the tipper left some information for you. Good to know that there a few of them around.
This is going to be a hefty estimate I am guessing. I think I heard you say it was about a $6000 paint job.

The bike isn't totaled and I'm sure its running just fine; unless there was damage I missed.
The reason I'm not going to keep this bike is because now its just an '04 R1 with 17k miles that has been hit.
I'll get what I can from insurance and hope I can sell the bike and get what its really worth in the end.
Next bike will be one that I can take to the track and not worry about scratching the paint.
Ted, you can expect me to spend a good amount of money at your shop once the new bike comes in.
I've been quoted by custom shops that do airbrushing and I've had between $5k and $9k estimates.

You'd be surprised what counts as totaled on bikes in Massachusetts.
It was explained to me as a liability issue when a car hits a bike and the insurance company lets it get "fixed".
When my Mini was hit it originally had a $2,000 air brush job that was 2 years old. They paid the whole amount I had originally paid for it.
