Having trouble deciding on a color...

    to paint my project truck.
As some of you know from the WTB thread, I bought a 71 Chevy c10 to restore as a driver. I have been driving it for a bit to get an idea of what I want to change and work out any minor bugs. As expected, it runs and drives awesome and don't plan on changing anything major as far as mechanical parts go.

In a week or 2, I plan to start taking it apart for a complete frame off restoration, taking all the body parts off, pulling the driveline, and front and rear end out as well. Sandblast and repaint the frame, sand blast and repaint the underside of the bed and cab, clean and repaint the engine, etc, etc.

My plan at first, was to repair any rusted sections and repaint the original colors, which is a 2-tone Butterscotch Yellow and White. Of course after looking around online, I found a color combination I like better....again using original GM colors at the time. The second option is again 2-tone, but replace the Butterscotch Yellow with a color called Medium Green.

So here's what I have now...

Here's the color option I like and wanted to change to (same wheels as well)

Having trouble deciding on a color...-1972-chevrolet-101-jpg

Then I found the same color as mine, but restored.

Having trouble deciding on a color...-yellow-chevrolet-11744-jpg

Just having a little trouble deciding, and even though I'm a few months from painting the outside, I need to know so I can paint the firewall and edge the fenders while it's apart.
    What does nesr think?

Mike, thank you for the offer. I have access to sandblasters and compressors, but the welding part is something I may be interested in. I have an idea what needs replacing on the body and some I can do myself (2 small rust holes in the firewall, 2 floor supports under the cab) but the fenders and doors need some TLC down low. Maybe rockers and cab corners as well, the sand blasting will tell that story. If it's something you're interested in, let me know!
    Thanks

Edit:: Also on the bed, I want to weld all the snap holes from the tonoe cover. I havn't counted them, but guessing it's 50+ holes

It looks pretty nice as it is now.

As far as color, I like the stock color combo.

If between the two, I personnaly like the butterscotch better. I think a blue/white would look sick though

I'd stay the same. I like the butterscotch a lot. If I ever get another one I want that 2 tone style with the green from my old one.Having trouble deciding on a color...-395820_10150663563445873_1719572797_n-jpg

Cool, I'll let you know. Probably need a hand a few nights removing the bed and body. And then somehow flip the bed upside down.

The picture makes it look better than it is. There are chips and scratches in the paint, and it has had a half assed repaint in the past.

Some of my friends and family suggested blue as well, but I'm guessing they based that on the blue Yamaha's of the past. I do like the blue, but not a fan of darker colors anymore.

Is that an original color for the year? What I like about 2-tone paint on these trucks, it makes the long beds look a lot nicer. If I ended up with a shortbed, I'd probably look into a solid color.

I have no idea. The prior owner had repainted and I'm sure it was the same color but I have no idea if it was repainted prior to that. I loved the color though. Agreed, I wish mine had been done that way.

    What about yamaha anniversary yellow?

Are you planning on keeping this as close original as possible or are you going to do the classic truck with modern upgrades thing (4 link, disc brakes, FI engine etc)?
    I like the butterscotch.

Anniversary Yamaha colors are to flashy. There was one for sale up in Vt that was close and reminded me of the Yamaha, yellow with the black blocks. Just didn't look good at all!

I'm going to keep is at close to original as I can. It already has power factory disc front brakes and it stops pretty good. If I didn't find a truck that already had a new engine (mine has less than 4,000 miles on it), I would probably upgrade to a later engine with FI. I may upgrade to a newer transmission with overdrive at a later date. The gearing in this one now, it still cruises down the highway at 75 no problem, so it's not something I'll change now.
Other than new shocks, I don't plan on any suspension upgrades. The front end is tight, it sits level and rides nice, so not even changing the springs.

Re: Having trouble deciding on a color...

The truck Randy posted sure looks nice, but I'd go for the medium green before the green in that picture. The more I think about it, and seems the majority here that posted, it seems like the original color is the best option. So it if I go with the butterscotch/white, looks wise the only thing I'd change is to a chrome sport rear bumper, and the Rally wheels like in the pics I posted above

I took it for a ride today, had to pick a few things up in town. Kept saying to myself, wow, this thing runs good..even set up the contour camera on the window..
Then I stop by my neighbors that has a couple old classic cars, and it just died in his driveway! Simple, it's either fuel, or spark...had fuel, but no spark! The previous owner replaced everything except the coil when the new engine was installed. I guess today the 41 year old coil decided it had had enough. Neighbor and I just removed the coil, cooled it off in the snow, put it back on and I was able to drive it home..haha

A quick video I took, I miss driving something that actually gets up and gets out of it's own way...and of course the Chevy V8 Rochester 4bb carb sound

    another vote for original

and even though the one randy posted looks badass, it takes away the appeal of what the C10 is supposed to look like. By lifting it and putting big tires, it looks more modern. No offense to the lifted trucks (I have one, and people guess my '01 is an 08-09 because it's lifted w' rims/tires), but I think the whole stock look is what suits you best!

The tires on the truck Randy posted look like ~32's. Those look like a comfortable size for a truck like that. I'd do exactly that.. although I'd pass on the chrome wheels.
