    4 Wheeled Mechanics?

I've got a Dodge Ram 3500 Maxi van that needs some work. Upper and lower ball joints both sides, coupla leaf spring shackles, etc. Anyone have a mechanic they would recommend that may not beat me up as bad as the local guys are? Inexpensive a MAJOR plus, of course.

Wait, you got a van too? Are you and 6 going to paint them opposite colors and then find vacant alleys to park in and 'rumble'?

It would be impossible for this van to look any more like 6's.

    Freaking copycat...

I think you can rent/borrow the tools to tackle the ball joints from Autozone, etc? The more you guys can get done yourselves the less it'll cost, right?

I bought his. As for doing it myself, maybe. I've never done this stuff, and I have a feeling a 10+ year old 1 ton is a rough way to learn.

Give my good friends shop a call 781-324-3530. Rob is the service manager there, tell him I sent you (I'll let him know you're calling too) and he'll take care of you on the pricing.

Butch's in Ipswich. My friend Mike that helped me build my Jeep the first time is the mechanic there. Pretty sure their labor rate isn't a killer and he's a great guy / mechanic. You can tell him price is a major concern and he should be able to help you out.

Thanks man, but at an hour and a half each way it'd have to be a pretty good deal. I'm hoping to talk to Alex's guy tomorrow.

    Re: 4 Wheeled Mechanics?

Situation has changed... The car we were counting on as a loaner has a blown head gasket, not a bad thermostat. Search criteria modified: Anyone know of a good mechanic that has a loaner vehicle? Looking at a couple grand into the van, hoping I can find a mechanic that will throw in a beater that'll get my girl to and from work while the van is in the shop.

Rich, I'd love to do business with you but that is rather far. If you could work a loaner/rental into the deal we could talk, that may make it worth the trip.
