my mother and girlfriend had there ipods and GPS stolen last nite out of their cars, luckily my neighbor was letting her cats out when they happened to be going through her car and called the cops, they ended up catching these assholes, and we got our stuff back which is sweet.
my family has lived in burlington for 30 years now and never had a problem, so just a friendly reminder to keep your cars locked up at night

Yeah...I'm always worried about that. Alto we do live in a quiet town, you never know. We had some assholes last year go on a rampage from Agawam, going thru Southwick all the way to Westfield, smashing car windows just for the heck of it. They wouldn't steal anything. One neighbor on my street was striked. I always lock my doors and turn on the alarm, but sometimes it's just not enough.

Locking your car rarely has anything to do with it getting broken into or not.
Leaving shit lying in the car that is in view and easily seen is what gets it broken into.
Even still, without things in view, I had my car broken into a few times in one of Boston's nicest neighborhoods...

Good to hear they got caught. I don't even leave a penny in the cupholder so a thief will take a quick look and move on.

it's important to remember not to leave the mounts for these high theft devices as well - even the suction cup ring residue on the windshield is sometimes enough to tempt a thief. some thieves have been known to watch cars entering a mall parking lot so they can spot GPS units *before* the owner has a chance to hide them. i leave mine down unless i'm actually going to use it, and i never enter a mall/store parking lot with it mounted on the dash.
if there's any indication that a GPS unit might be in the car, then you're at risk. don't leave anything (!!) visible, not even a penny. a clean, empty car is the least attractive to a smash and grab thief.
