Okay, here's the deal. My mother is a music teacher & has a ton of audio tapes & cd's in her music studio that she'd like to get organized.
Question 1 - How can I get her cassette tapes transferred onto a CD or digital format quickly, efficiently and economically?
Question 2 - for those with a shit ton of CD's and music files, what do you do for home storage/organization/playback? She's got a laptop in her studio, but it's kind of a piece of shit. Dunno if I wanna risk putting everything into mp3 format just so her laptop can freeze up every time she tries to access something.

1) I'm not really sure, I've looked into getting my parents vinals put onto CD since they have some that have not been remade into a digital format, but they lost interest. I'm pretty sure you'll be able to find a service to do that. Edit: Check this one out...pricing seems to be about what I'd anticipate http://www.reclaimmedia.com/index.html
2) Depends on how much you're willing to spend. You can organize a shit ton of music on DVD's for back up storage in MP3 format, but if you want transportability of music? Put it on an iPod or other MP3 in addition to having other copies, that way you can just plug it into some speakers and it will be good to go. This will maximize transportability...

Any special software that you need. We've got hundreds of tapes that we don't have on cd/mp3 but would like to. I did see a dual tape "ripper" in the catalog Brookstone for $150. www.brookstone.com They also have one for vinyl. By the maker ION. Quality![]()
