Beer?

Alright, lets hear it. I wanna know who likes what TYPES of beer.

None of this "I like Newcastle". No, tell me what type.

Light beers? Dark beers? Amber? Wheats? Bocks? Stouts? IPA's? Porters? Ales?

Do you like them hoppy? Malty? Dark Malt? Light Malt?

Types of beers can also include Irish Red's, Ockotberfest's, Winter Ale's, Flavored beers, etc

NO BEER. Just mixed drinks, and stuff like Smirnoff ICe. One of my favorite is Red Bull mixed with absolute vodka!

I like most beers, and I try to switch it up every so often... You only have so much time and so many beers to try....

I don't drink that much maybe a 6pack a month in winter, and most 5 in summer

wow. a six pack a month... we are a bunch of alkies at my place... usually kill an 18 pack a night.
so we have to stick to the budget and forget our tastes.

Oh jeebus, you should have made this multiple choice...

I like both hoppy and malty beers. On the very hoppy side, you can't beat a Dogfishead 60 Minute IPA. On the malty side, you have to love the mouthfeel and pure malt wallop of Scotch Ales or Oatmeal Stouts.

On the flipside, my absolute favorite beers are the Belgians... Anything from a nice crisp farmhouse golden ale, like Omegang brewery's Hennepin, to an awesome Dubble/Tripel (quite partial to Westvleterren, but thats hard to come by, so Chimay/Westmalle will have to do)

Speaking of BEER, are you coming to the Extreme Beer Fest?

Nah, after I saw the prices, no thanks. I would much rather brew my own for the same price as trying 5 samples there.

Besides, you gotta see it from my point of view. Go to beer festival, try lots of beer, pay $30.

Go to work for an hour, drink lots of beer, get paid $30.

With the money they charge to let you into that thing, it should be free samples for all vendors. The whole point is to try MANY different beers, not just 5 unless you wanna shell out mucho dinero. Should be free with admission!

My favorites:

With hot food, like indian food or some kickin hotwings, IPA's all the way. The hoppier, the better.

Yeah, the thing with that fest though, is all the beers are way top shelf beers, like $12 a sixer or $9/705ml, kind of beers... Even the Sam Adams fests (where you only get Sam Adams beer) are $10 at door, and like $4 a beer (full beer of course, not sample cups)...

In any case, to brew some of the types of beers that will be served there requires wayyyy more than the price of admission in ingredients (try a barley wine at 18 lbs of malt extract at $4 a lb ($80 to brew 5 gallons including hops, yeast, malt extract) vs $22 door price and spend $16 more on tickets to get to sample 25 4 ounce samples of the best beer money could buy or you could brew

This is beer economics 101

I figure for $38 bux I will be able to drink myself silly on some damn fine beers... if you work that out, its like $1.50 for each 4 oz sample. Or its like buying a $6 pint... not that out of the range of reasonability.. hehe... beer

In any case, with 20% ABV beers on draft, you can bet I'll be getting the biggest beer bang for my buck.

I went to a beer fest when I lived in Raleigh...$18 at the door and it was all you could drink....it was a beautiful thing...except I beat teh shit out of one of my best friends...but thats a story for another time..

I drank the winter lager last night at hooters ,But the best sams is the double bock I love that shit.
I drink the dark stuff (mostly sams) because when I was 18 I could by a six pack leave it in the fridge at any party and nobody touched it

anything but bud... beer is not supposed to be made with rice first of all and second the bud mud the next morning i can always do without. Down with bud... they are the yankees of beer and i hate everything they stand for!!!

I'll second the Double Bock being the best thing Sam Adams has put out. I have yet to try the Utopas, though.
