Anyone here work on boats? I may need the engine torn down to fix the no compression in Cyl 2. Its a Volvo Penta 5.0 V8. Boat is down the Cape now but could tow it somewhere. Its at a shop now. They work on cars usually but are helping me out. They are gonna take the valve cover off and see if they can see whats up with it but they said they dont have time to take a head off if they need to get that deep into it.
Background...I bought the boat a couple months ago. Since I got it was backfiring and I was troubleshooting electrical stuff, coil, wires, plugs, cap rotor. Took a plug out, looked like hell, checked compression, none to be had. The boat does start and idle well. No clunking sounds. Anyone have any insight? Know how?

It is a USA truck engine usually displacement will tell you
350's are GM
SOmetimes a rocker arm adjuster backs off at high rpm and the push rod just leeves.
If its zero compression then the intake. They will see it immediately
Evryting else you won't be happy
Car full power 1% of the time 1/4 power 95% of the time
Boat Full power 10% and 80% power 80%
Glen Beck is John the Baptist
Its a ford 302 engine. 5.0 FL which is ford and they have a 5.0 GL which is GM. Hopefully this doesnt get too costly.
