I am handing my piece of shit, no coverage Nextel back in at work today (it's my last day here).
So, I need a new cellphone. I was thinking Verizon, but now I have been told that Cingular has great coverage and they have that Razr phone for $199 so I'm tempted. Any opinions?
derek
IMO stay away from Cingular and sprint... Nextell and verison have the best coverage so if you dont like nextell go wihth verison
i just went from nextel to cingular and i gotta tell you.. reception is a wonderful thing.
edit: wait, you gotta be on meth if you think NEXTEL has good coverage. i had to deal with that PITA service for 4 years and it was cell phone hell.
Nextel sucks, NEVER AGAIN I TELL YOU NEVER AGAIN.....
Only thing holding me to this phone is the 10K minute plan I have for $54/Month. Other than that the coverage for 2-Way and phone reception sucks ass...
Verizon and Cigular both are good.
IMHO I would go with Verizon, Great service and I have a connection with a Service rep.if I ever had any problems. I may just bite the bullet and look into minute plans with Verizon myself. I am pretty sure my contract is up soon with Nexcrap...
Congrats on your last day working for someone else!![]()
Sorry to hear your new boss is a prick and will probably give you a hard time for wanting time off for racing...![]()

If you can wait a few days top get the phone, go with Verizon and buy the phone through BUY.COM. They have incredible prices on some of the phones, but the catch is you get the money back through a mail in rebate 6 months after the phone is activated, and the paperwork to do it is a pain in the ass. BUT, I got a 250$ phone (the Mot V710) and they are paying me 50 bucks. Thats right, I dished out 250 for 300 in rebates. You should check the site out and look carefully to find the best deals.
Just checked and the Razor for cingular is free after rebates and the V710 from verizon is free after rebates as well. The phone comes with all the activation done and the paperwork in the box. BUT make sure you ask for a 1 year contract, not 2. They will try to make it 2 b/c they get a bigger kickback from the carrier if they sell a more expensive contract.
I have verizon and am very happy with it. Very rarely do I have a reception problem. Usually when I'm having a problem the people I work with have no reception on nextel or cingular.
And two phones cost me about $60 a month with 500 any time, 300 phone to phone, nights/weekends and free in service calls.

Go with Verizon!

Go with Verizon!if i ever get a new one thats what i'll do...but i got a plan like squids so I'm not leaving..i have had good luck with nextell. I have had all the rest except verision and i hear good things...
I find that these companies are good depending where you live...ask the people you will be in most how they're service is and make the call...
Nextel coverage is improving, especially in NH, western Ma and MeWe are building a lot of sites this year.

I have had Nextel, ATT, Sprint, Cingular and Verizon. And I have to go with Verizon. Best coverage in the area and out side of the area.
Wow! I have great service/coverage with Nextel! I'm shocked to hear so many of ya haven't had good experiences...
Did you grit your teeth and try to look like Clint Fuckin' Eastwood?
Or did you lisp it all hangfisted like a fuckin' flower?
Verizon here... i'm lookin for a new phone, too, i need a new one like nobody's business.... my phone is so shitty, ugly & old, but still makes calls & sounds great.

Verizon.
Maine - Tennessee - Ohio - Arizona....hmmm, I think those about cover my recent travels.
2000 minutes/month, unlimited mobile-mobile, unlimited nights/weekends, nation-wide one-rate, etc.
There is no substitute for good cell service.

ah...remember the days when you could actually have a complete conversation on a cell phone and when it rings it sounds like a phone instead of 1 of the 5 sonds they are playing on the radion this week..../tear
had Verizon............HATED IT
the fuckin assholes couldnt even send me a letter letting me know my contract with them was up. so when i called and asked them when my contract was up they said "September" i said "this September?" and they said "last September" it was FUCKING JULY!!!

Get Sprint PCS![]()
I've had Sprint for about 10 years... I agree the coverage isn't quite as good as Verizon, but the call quality is WAY better.
I had a Verizon phone for work and it sucked... it sounded like I was talking into a tin can on a string. P.O.S.

Cingular hands down.
I've had Nextel (and a repeater of the roof of my bldg. to prove it. I stopped supporting them when they lost sight of customer service.)
Verizon (worked everywhere sure, as long as you don't mind the question "are you driving?" every time you're on the phone)
Sprint (the bling bling service which gives you everything you need, don't need, and more! ...they did have great call quality, but damn if their signal doesen't change strength every 2 seconds...analog, digital, roam, etc...shit was annoying...but I guess in some parts of the country they kick ass?)
I'm about 49% of the decision making authority at my company for cell service, and last decision was Nextel to who? I vied hard against Cingular (I hated cellone with a passion) and was trying to go Verizon just for the coverage factor. I changed my thoughts on the issue after the Cingular rep. gave me a test phone for the weekend. I changed my personal cell phones to Cingular the following week as well.
The phone is awesome, fits in my pocket when I am riding and you dont even know its there. Reception is good, and there have only been maybe 5 dropped calls in 4 months.
Arguing on the internet is like winning a gold medal in the special olympics......whether you win or lose you are still retarded!
i had sprint ...never had a problem.....switched to NEXTEl and man the service at my house sux. Everyone says they r improving their service but i haven't seen any. DON'T get T-Mobile. If i had to get another service i would either go back to sprint or try verizon.
I would go with Verizon. I rarely have any problems.
