I want to see where others have gone, suggestions, or stay the hell away from!
We are looking for someplace warm.
I also don't have a passport (yet) so US or near is good for now. The trip will probably sometime this winter.
ideas?![]()
It's outside the US, but may be worth considering. For our honeymoon, we went to Bequia, in the Caribbean...very nice place...stuff to do, without it being overrun with tourists, and the rates wont kill your wallet. Back then, you flew to Barbados, took a puddle hopper to St. Vincent, and then a ferry to Bequia...tho now you can fly to Bequia directly from Barbados, which you fly to from the US. You'll find the info in the first link below. Super beaches, great restaurants, friendly locals, all levels of places to stay from simple cottages to high brow lol etc...outta the way and a great place if youre interested in the Caribbean....it's pronounced Bek-wee...
Bequia Tourism Association - welcome!
Oh, one thing...theres a cottage industry there of hand carved model ships...the detail and execution is AMAZING!! The island is known for these craftsmen...
The island of Mustique is nearby...where the rich and famous (and Queen Elizabeth lol) have their private getaways...$$$
Welcome to Mustique - Unquestionably one of the most exclusive islands in the world.

We are also in the planning stages of the wedding/honeymoon.
We are most likely going to be staying in Napa Valley (CA) for 7 to 10 days.
We have been there before and loved it.
We're also considering Hawaii.......since our wedding will be in Monterey, CA
Napa would be a nice drive in our rental car which is this:

love the rental car!!
Hmm...wine. I love wine.
We also are considering Europe, Italy specifically..but with
the exchange rate being so lousy it makes it even more expensive.
we were thinkin Italy as well but that would be a long time coming and we want to go someplace this winter! Love the island information.
Maui... that's where we went and I'd love to get back there.

I have been to Bermuda 2 times on a cruise. Very nice clean place. All people are friendly and they aint trying to fucking sell you shit! Plenty of things to do there. Peppercorn helmet dive was wayy kewl!
Stay the fuck away from Jamaica, mexico and other poverty stricken places. They will not leave you the fuck alone!!! Makes for a shitty time.....
If all else fails, Lean more....
+1
Maui is an awesome place for a honeymoon. If you want to go off alone, there are plenty of private places to go hide. If you'd rather celebrate with others there are the same number of more public beaches, restaurants and clubs to be found. If you're more adventurous there are plenty of hikes, bikes and water sports to participate in. Dinner cruises can either be a romantic sail for two or all you can drink booze cruises with many. Scuba diving is marginal at best but snorkeling is surprisingly good. Let's face it there are plenty of fish to see and hopefully you'll have a good number of them on your dinner plates at night *yummy*. Plenty of boogie boarding or surfing around and one or two person kayaks either inland on the rivers or off shore in the open ocean are a good half day trip.
Yes, I've been to all the other islands (including the forbidden island of Niihau) but I think Maui has the best mix of private places and amenities. This is getting too long so I'll cut it off here. If you want more info, just PM me so we don't bore the rest of NESR.
we are doing clearwater, fl. good weather in oct, nice beaches, actually look up caladesi island, always one of the top beaches in the us. short money, short flight. golf and spa's, what else do you need for a honeymoon. we're staying at the sandpearl, i'll let you know how it is.

Rent a house on North Captiva Island...

A passport will only take you a couple weeks to get. Mine took 2 1/2. A friend got his in two. Thats without paying for it to be expedited.
As for where to go on a honeymoon, I have no idea. I haven't gone on one.
You suck at life. Why don't you quit?
My dad told me I could be anything I wanted when I grew up. So I became an Asshole.
Help if knew budget

We are trying to spend around 5k for the honeymoon.
Is that realistic?
I think you can rent a really nice house in North Captiva for less than 2k. The island is small, no cars. Each house comes with a golf cart. (but there's no golf on the island!) THere are a couple of restaurants, really nice beachs, and not much else. If you are looking for night life and that sort of thing its not the place. But for a romantic, quiet and very laid back week it can't be beat...

St.Martin, Grand Case
We spent around 3500 including flights, hotel on the beach, rental car, meals, entertainment. 7 nights.
If you want to REALLY eat well, Grand Case is the place to stay.
I got my passport in two weeks and I look like a terrorist.

Aruba is nice. We went there and had a great time. It is very clean and friendly with no beggars. You do not need to worry about hurricane season either as it is out of the path. We rented a motorcycle from Nelson's Cycles and rode around the whole island.
I can't believe someone else mentioned it! Captiva Island is absolutly BEAUTIFUL. It is where MANY couples go for their romantic weddings on the beach with the beautiful Florida sunsets. Been there 2 years ago and was very pleased. Not far is Sanibel Island, where if you go early in the morning, you can LITERALLY walk on sea shells, they're all over the beach and you can find little gems in the sand. You could spend a few days on Captiva Island, then drive down to the Keys and visit Key West, it's awsome. Diving and snorkling in the Keys is sensational!

We went here Iberostar Grand Paraiso and absolutely loved it.
I would not recommend a cruise for a honeymoon.
We did 3 1/2 weeks on a motorcycle in Europe. Landed in Germany, rented a bike from a really cool dude (Stephan Knopf - Knopf Tours) and rode down through Austria and the Italian Alps. Be glad to show you the route. There are some passes in there that should not be missed.
Sorry - this is a bit off topic if you want a winter vacation and don't have a passport. We went in September and it was very cold at the tops of the passes.
