Anyone still having intermittent DNS problems with Comcast? Their DNS server has been flakey all week.
Seems to be better now. Every night this week for about an hour I have had issues with their DNS server.
yup. Sucks ass. Remind me why we pay so much $$$ for high speed internet again? The only websites I can access right now is NESR and my bank account...![]()

A response from Comcast:
Thank you for taking the time to write us.
I apologize, we are currently experiencing an intermittent outage. We are in the process of resolving this issue. There is no ETA as to when it will be resolved, however issues like this are fixed fairly quick. Once the outage has cleared, service will be back to normal.
Thank you for the opportunity to assist you. If you need further assistance with any of your Comcast services please reply to this email and we will be happy to assist you. Thank you again for choosing Comcast we appreciate your business.
Sincerely,

I wonder if they will stop billing me until the "issue" can be resolved?

if it's that much of a problem you should use UUnet's DNS servers until comcast resolves the issue.Originally posted by TheIglu

I want to know why their secondary DNS craps out at the same time the primary one does.
Are you all talking english??![]()
All I know is Comcast sucks donkey ass!! Everytime I need something the connection goes down or that particular site can't be reached. I pay top dollar for crap service!!
Ok, I'm done bitching now![]()
It's more fun to complain. When I really need to to something online I use the alternate DNS servers from here at work. Other than that I'd rather sit there and be another person clogging up their system. What a bunch of fucktards.Originally posted by slutamis

I haven't had one single problem in over 9 months with them until now!

not sure but as a guess I would say it's email/virus related. If there is a virus or something sending out tons of e-mail it could kill the DNS server easy.Originally posted by ZX-12R

I dunno know what to say. I have comcast and I never have any problems with it.
Read your service agreements... chances are with a consumer account you don't have very good terms with them and you won't get any price break if you complain.
If you upgrade to a business account you pay more for a higher guaranteed service...
I was over visiting one of my friends and I've seen the comcast DNS acting up twice recently too.
They actually will if you bitch enough. When I first signed up for their service over a year ago, the "upstream power level" on my modem would intermittently shoot up too high (roughly 58 dBmV) and kept disconnecting the modem. They originally tried to blame our cabling and splitters within the house, so I took a tech into my basement, hooked up the modem from the cable directly from the street, and proved to him that it was their issue, not mine. Once this was established, and they admitted fault, it was a bit smoother sailing with customer service.Originally posted by benVFR

I ended up calling them everytime it happened, which was fairly often for a month or two and finally bitched them out about how I'm paying X amount of money for a service that works, and this clearly wasn't working. They told me that they would freeze billing until the issue was resolved. I ended up getting about a week free because I barely could ever get online for a week until it was resolved.
I don't know enough about ISP equipment to explain it, but they have since upgraded something because my modem is currently reading 61 dBmV on upstream power level, and I've not had a disconnect since the above incident.
FOUR times in the last 7 days or so.
Two nights ago real bad.
Last night sporadic.
Danvers area.
Lets call them on it. Its BS to get NO connection (response from MANY websites)
yet have the modem show all is okay -four greens.......
Lets' call them on it.
Its wide spread from your e-mails......

3 or 4 times this week, about 9pm every time.
Otherwise though, they have fantastic uptime. We've had this broadband (under one name or another) for like 5 years and we've never had an outage like this.
They will credit you if you bitch enough.
I think this deserves bitching.
