Can someone convert .jpg file to .ai files, pls.

Truth be told, I am way too lazy to load the conversion software and figure out how to do it so if you want to PM your e-mail address I will send the 2 files I'd like to have converted.....unless there's some other way to do it without using/ uploading Adobe Creator.

Doesn't really make sense -- .jpg files are raster graphics and .ai (Adobe Illustrator) files are vector graphics. You can embed a .jpg in an Illustrator file, but that's not very useful. What's the intended usage?

You can rasterize with a click of the mouse. Even better if you're familiar with the custom settings...

That's fine if you want to go from Illustrator to a JPEG. But that wasn't the original question. He wants to go from a JPEG to Illustrator.

Depending on the art you can try and use live trace if you need it to be vector. It can get messy though.

Raster to vector conversions are always messy. Be sure to start with the largest and highest res jpg you can get.

Raster means the artwork is made up of a collection of pixels, in which each pixel is assigned a color value. Example: a photo. If you keep enlarging it, you'll see it becomes blocky, and that each block is a solid color. Those blocks are the pixels.

Vector means the artwork is made up of lines, curves, and color fills that can be described mathematically. The advantage of this type of artwork is that it's infinitely scalable without ever becoming blocky, but the disadvantage is that it's extremely difficult to reproduce photorealistic images this way (although a few supremely talented illustrators can come close, just as some artists can paint images on canvas that almost look like photos). Vector artwork is typically used for logos, diagrams, charts, and illustrations.

In this case, I'm guessing you want to get vinyl decals made of a logo or something. Usually it's possible to get an Illustrator version of the logo from whoever created it, because in most cases that's how it was originally created, but if that's too difficult to track down, logos are usually fairly easy to trace in Illustrator to create a new vector version. It's not as simple as just pasting the JPEG into Illustrator though -- someone needs to physically redraw the logo in Illustrator using the JPEG as a template, or use Illustrator's LiveTrace function to redraw it automatically (but it rarely does a very good job -- though I happen to be super critical because I do digital print production work for a living, and my company has a top-notch reputation for the quality of our files, so I'm not satisfied with "good enough").
