I must say the oldschool challanger is one of my favorite muscle cars.

The body shape is really similar to the original, unlike the charger, which looks like they chopped a magnum and added a trunk.

I like it. Wonder what the sticker price would be? 25K?

The front looks almost identical to the original. They said 31k in the article.

    Yikes, R/T models pre-selling in the 50's.

    Must be nice.

Dodge is bringing back the Challanger!

The old challenger is my dream car(right after a 'cuda) Ever since hearing the first rumor a couple years ago of dodge bringing the challenger back I started saving up. I hope to pick one up when they do come out. Though I think I will wait until later in the production year or maybe even the year after to buy it, In case of any 1st year bugs.

cool car, but id rather buy a real one. for the price of 50k i could have a nice challenger with all kinds of power. i have a feeling a bunch of yuppie bastards are going to buy this car and the camaro and call themselves "enthusiests" just like the corvette crowd. but hey to each their own. i like the all blacked out idea from above. maybe lower it, race wheels, roll cage, gut the interior, and make it an scca road racer!

Always liked the old Mopars, especially the Challenger T/A with the 340 6 pack and side exhuast. That new oine is pretty neat. I drove a rental Charger a month ago, really nice, comfortable car to drive. Felt very solid.

That said, I really wish Daimler Chrylser would get their shit together and build some cars that have Toyota-like quality/fuel economy instead of spending all their R&D money on styling, "HEMI" emblems (it's not even a hemi engine) and big, fuel sucking, engines. At least Ford is trying to make good "regular" cars.

Don't hold your breath.. Toyota quality is something most car manufacturers will never achieve.

I don't think it'll last very long. The original "muscle car" era vanquished following criticisms of safety, fuel efficiency, and emissions. Add today's gas prices and any relatively affordable modern muscle car will receive the same response.

The oldies from the 60's and 70's had ridiculous motors in cars that had marginal handling and braking at best. Combine that with a target youth audience and you're just asking for accidents. Top that off with a whopping 12mpg and few emissions restrictions, and those cars would've warmed up the globe before Al Gore could've discovered it.

While it's true that "modern" muscle cars are subject to more stringent emissions requirements than those 40 years ago, and can weed out the terrible teens with their hefty price tags, they're just not under any pop-culture, or target audience frenzy to really take off.
