WOW why did they wait
Hydrogen ICE plus Hybrid Electric Powertrain - A 2.3-liter, four-cylinder supercharged, intercooled hydrogen internal combustion engine, coupled with a hybrid electric transmission, propels Model U. It offers enhanced fuel economy - the equivalent of 45 miles per gallon and about 300 miles of range - plus near-zero regulated emissions and a 99-percent reduction in carbon dioxide. The powertrain also features Ford's advanced Modular Hybrid Transmission System, a way to simplify hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) technology in manufacturing, while contributing to significant fuel economy improvements. This vehicle can meet PZEV emissions.

Uh where do you fill up with hydrogen? Or is this splitting H20 into H and O2?

That is the problem with hydrogen. You would need TONS of energy to split water into hydrogen and oxygen molecules. Unless it was mass produced in huge quantities, gas will almost always be cheaper by the "gallon".

Yup, that is why Hydrogen is not an energy source. It is an energy carrier. It takes more energy to make than you get out of it.Originally posted by TheIglu

on another note. IIRC, it takes 1.05 gallons of ethanol energy to make a gallon of ethanol. Well so much for that being an energy source too.
...and Yet another note: the fuel that is being pushed out there right now? you know... the one with the ethanol in it? You will go about 4% fewer miles on a gallon of it, because there is less energy in it than a gallon of gasoline. And guess what!!! we get bend over at the pump and pay the same price we were paying for gasoline, and get even less energy for our dollar. So now we have to buy even more of the stuff to go the same distance we were going beforehand.

From what I understand it uses solar panels to generate the engery required to derive the hydrogen.
it makes sense to releaseit now. would you of thought about buying one when gas a 1$-2$ a gallon
