i ran that ad on the paper last weekend and guess what? i think i just spoke with the crook. he's trying to sell me back my laptop he had stolen. wants me to wire the money to him. didn't think crooks like this read Lost&Found ad section. can't get a hold of detective for advice.

Did you place an ad? ....and the crook is responding to it?

Not sure the crook is going to sell your stuff back.
Unwittingly, you may have cornered the SOB but without knowing the details of how you think you found the guy who stole your computer............................if he's contacting you, I'd say maybe your getting ripped off twice?

you got it. il be working with the detective if he ever have time for it. of course im not gonna just send him the money without any valid contact info.

he said i bought it off someone but can't use it because it's lock. duh!

said he is a truck driver and he's in IL right now. wants me to wire him the money so he can send the laptop back to me. but when ask about contact info he wouldn't let me talk. story wasn't together. doesn't sound convincing at all.

he's proably around here somewhere making the call.

One time my cell phone called the Ashland PD (it was saved in there cause my father-in-law works there) while I was at the shooting range... when they picked up they heard gun shots... they played the tape for the phone company... and that was sufficient for a trace... and I got a swift call back.... woops... my bad...
