    Harbor Freight

I have a store 5 miles from my place...

I am impressed with just how much stuff they have at the store and how good the quality is on some of it...

needless to say i spent $100 on what would be $300 worth of crapsman tools...

did i mention its been 70 degrees everyday?

there are people that ride year round out here that are not absolutely insane Randy...

no need for "the darkside" or snowmobiling gear....

not to mention our drop in HP out here is not a correlation to below freezing temperatures.

Let me know how it goes when you try to return a busted tool to Harbor Freight. Craftsman or should I say "crapsman" so you know to whom I'm referring, rarely questions anything.

I don't mind HF, just can't stand the pushiness of the cashiers and their "extended warranty" program.

I received a cordless drill from HF as a gift. The charger had a meltdown (yes, physically melted) the 3rd time I charged it. Luckily I was home and smelled it self destructing or someone's bargain could have cost me a house.

Its a trade off. I dont use hand tools often enough for them to break. I have the garage, but it is not necassarily large enough to fit the car and have any type of workspace. also the expensive stuff is still subject to needing a replacement plan.

anything battery operated is subject to that kind of failure...

just because its a brand name does not mean that can't happen.

I use HF for more simple tools such as hex sets, screwdrivers, etc.

They also have really cheap tarps.

Yeah... well never having to clean your own house or do your own yard work or move your own furniture or do any kind of manual labor that you're willing to pay $10 an hour for is kind of a nice trade off for that.

    Re: Harbor Freight

I buy Craftsman for tools I use often (and break often) since I can literally walk into any Sears, hand them the broken tool and get a new one.

For stuff I use every once in a while, I buy cheap Chinese stuff (like Harbor Freight).

FWIW, I just recently bought a chain breaker from a local motorcycle shop and it broke the first time I tried to use it.
