There is Jeep junk yard in Wrentham right off 495. I havent been by there in a while so you better call to see if they are still open. Don't remember the name![]()

This place came highly recommended by several of my co-workers. I hope it helps, just don't get too involved, it will cost you a lot more than you know.

Come on, Thorny, what game are you playing here? I can say "meow". I can say "moo". For twenty bucks, I'll call the guy a "chicken fucker".
listen to the girl in regards to cost...
for those axles/tranny items you are looking for... that could be hard for that model jeep. you might have better luck rebuilding the ones you have.
check out rigidsteel.com for seals and shit to rebuild what you got.
he is in MA.... but way up in the northwest corner.
very knowledgeable and helpful... pretty good, on price too.
tell him i sent you, he knows me (read:my cc number) very well.
oh yea, 4wd hardware also has almost anything imaginable for all kinds of jeeps... not sure about a '48 though.
there catalogs are great.... all kinds of cool pics (like all the ones left out of the manual) to help find parts that are great for figuring out how a pile of parts in your driveway goes back together.
Thanks for all the info brent, im lookin around....the jeep is in really good condition. Just needs a transmission. My friend who is a mechanic is doing a lot of work to it....putting a lift on it, he put some huge ass wheels on it...newer dash set up...newer seats...its coming along great.
hey buddy you got it.
good luck with it. i am in the final phases now with my jeep. i still have to re-build the steering column and the front axles to get her road worthy. once that stuff is done, i should be able to drive her home to beantown and finish the wiring and some other minor stuff.
make sure you get the right gears in the front and rear to match those tires... i dont know how huge is huge for your toy... but the 35's that were on my jeep before i got it destroyed the axles cause they were left set up stock originally.

Funny you mentioned them cause when I first saw this thread the first thing that I did was pick the catalogue off the table and flip to page 136 for the tranny stuffs....great cat![]()
Bras cause cancer.
I am not to big of a fan of 4wd. I purchased some parts that have been made cheaply. I prefer quadratec personally (Then again quadratrec gives me a dealer discount)

So how many of you are Jeep owners? Maybe a NESR 4wd run is on order. I been driving my 1992 Jeep Wrangler since I purchased it new in High School. 2 years ago I tore it apart and rebuilt it. I will scan some pictures in when I get a chance.
I still need to get my steering in order. The drag link and tie-rod like to smack into each other whne the suspension compresses. For the last month I have been going to Domenic and Ellias’s shops for some advice. Time for some new tires debating 35” or 37”. Might wait for a new engine before I go to 37” though.
If any of you are interested I will be skiing Wildcat on March 12th and Cranmore March 14th for Jeep Owner Appreciation Day. So if you head up send me a PM and we will do some runs together.
If you are looking for some local advice on your jeep check out this board, I am a member over there also:
