Looking to get a lawn tractor, sick of doing the push mower thing 1 1/2 hrs most days.
Looking to keep it under $2K, Deere, Husky, or Cub.

Grrrr...if only my push mower would die!
Did you grit your teeth and try to look like Clint Fuckin' Eastwood?
Or did you lisp it all hangfisted like a fuckin' flower?
How about a Buell.....
Under $2K most of the tractors are pretty similar in their respective price brackets. I would shop around and find the feature set that you like (Horsepower, hydrostatic vs. belt drive, deck size, electric vs. manual PTO clutch, cup holders, etc. etc...) and buy it.
Another option might be to shop around for a used high end lawn tractor ($4K-$7K new) like a Ford, Simplicity, high end Deere, Case, etc. The upper tier lawn tractors are much better than the big box store ones and they hold up very well even if they have been beaten to death their entire life.

How big is the area that you have to mow?
How big is the space you plan on storing it in?

The best part about the switch from push to ride on is the cup holders. On my Deere I can fit 4 cans. Only two bottles though because more clink and I'm afraid they'll break.
Just sayin'...

FWIW I found a Ferris 48" hydrostatic deck mower for $1,000, used. Put a two-wheeled Velke on it for $300. I like it a lot more than my old tractor, it's faster and a does nicer looking job.
Big walk behind is a much better machine and a lot faster. Picked up a Bobcat 48" for $900 last fall. No cup holder tho.

I would go with a used commercial mower if I were you. I have worked as a professional landscaper for a few summers, and they are the way to go. Commercial mowers are faster and give you a great cut. You can get a decent used one for 1000-3000, and it will last forever because they are built to be run everyday for years.
I just picked up the Cub LTX 1045 and love it. I have a large lot with sizable hills and this thing eats it all up. I was able to work them on price a bit too.
Plus it has plenty of room for beer, ahem, I mean iced tea.
Not great reviews, over here. I leaning towards JD LT 135.

hydrostatic drive for sure
if you only mowing, maybe a commercial mower is the way to go, tractor however has the advantage of other attachments/impliments

Those reviews are on the LT not LTX. The LT had issues because Cub changed the shaft size 3 different times, this caused people to be unsure of which belt to buy and inevitably caused issues.
I was worried about the same thing before I bought mine, but did more research to find reviews on the LTX.
Either way, riding sure beats the hell out of pushing a mower around.
