Me thinks its a very fortunate thing that we never hear the full version of our National Anthem...for example, here's the third verse of four:
"And where is that band who so vauntingly swore
That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion
A home and a country should leave us no more?
Their blood has wash'd out their foul footsteps' pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight or the gloom of the grave:
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave."
Ther others aren't any better really!
"A man who views the world the same at 50 as he did at 20 has wasted 30 years of his life.”
Muhammad Ali.
This is less a lesson in patriotism and more a lesson in "if you ever have to get up in front of 1000's of people, learn your fuckin lines, people."
