Last December 26th i was pulled over for going 86 in a 55. My lawyer asked reschedule the first court date and the cop wasn't there for the second. what should i expect for this court date? what if my court date gets rescheduled again? I am a little confused because I live in MA.
In mass, if a cop doesn't show after proper notice was given, often the charge is dismissed. If he doesn't show again, ask for dismissal; could be different in NY, and results may vary even in mass, depending on circumstances or the particular judge. In the situation you describe, leeway may have been granted to the prosecution because your lawyer changed the date first...
cop didn't show and yer lawyer let the proscecution get away with continuance on a traffic case ?
you need a different lawyer
I once got a traffic violation thrown on 6th amendment grounds when it took just a little longer (15months) to get to court

Search for a thread i started here 5 years ago about the same thing. I appeared in the towns court and they reduced it to an expensive parking ticket. All they want in your money.
Never hit my insurance
"Parking on Pavement" was the classic citation when I was living in the capital district. 75% of speeding ticket money went to the state, so the locals would change it to a non-moving violation with similar penalties to keep 100% of the money. "Law enforcement" can be such a scam.
