    Power Steamers & Cleaners

Has anyone used them? I have heard both positive and negative stuff but I watched some interesting commercial lately..
I like the idea of having something that I can use to clean so many things.
Bathtubs - toilets, cabinets, floors, carpets, windows, even rims!?
anyways I dont really know much about them I was wondering if someone can inform me and how many people are actually using them.. I have always been a Windex/bleach cleaning person but they make it seem so easy on tv..

for the records thats the one I have in mind right now and i like what the reviews are saying: Amazon.com: Wagner 915 1,500-Watt On-Demand Power Steamer and Cleaner: Home Improvement

    Re: Power Steamers & Cleaners

I have a shark cleaner for the hardwood/tile and I love it. When I was getting the house cleaned up and had to deal with dust from the hardwood refinishing, as well as all the funky crap from the previous owner, a mop and broom didn't do a good job. I went at it with the steamer and it did the job right away. On the tile it melted off and rubbed off stains that I couldn't scrub off with a sponge and fantastik which was really weird..

Haven't taken off the detachment to try other things other than the countertops which that worked fine, but I probably didn't even need that to clean it.

I am not sure of these but have found memories when I worked at Remington with the cleaning power of high pressure steam from the plant.

MANY substances soften with heat and the dissolving power of water is directly related to its temperature. Anything wax based would resist detergents but be melted and desolved with steam heat

I have hard well water so minerals would be spread all over

    Re: Power Steamers & Cleaners

Walmart has the Oreck steam cleaner on sale for about $120. I've had it for a month or so because we have polished concrete floors. Its a little heavy for me, but not terrible. It has several attachments to use including a scrubber, a squeegee for windows and tile, etc. The really nice thing is that it has 2 mop attachments but it also has clips on the sides of it so you can also just use shop towels, which I do quite a bit if I'm trying to clean quickly and not have to rinse mop heads.

What u think of quality Jackie? Does it do real work or just surface cleaning? Have you used it on shower/tub and windows at all?

I've used it in the shower and on the stove, haven't done our windows yet as they all seem to crack when I touch them so I've adopted a hands-off policy until we replace them. ITs really good quality, I think it has a 5 year warranty.
