Yes I know the most expensive is the 3 Black edition.
But does it justify spending that much?
Is there any serious advantages from edition to edition?
Has anyone used the Wifi feature? is it usable at the track?
this will be used for Track and street for me so any suggestions are welcomed.
Hero 3+ Black.
Be clear on how the wifi works. It doesn't connect to other wifi source. It is it's own source, and allows you to transfer stuff (as well as get a preview of what you will be recording) on your phone. Wifi let's you control the camera without pushing buttons on the camera (which can be handy depending on how you have it mounted).
Mine was a gift so I didn't bother researching the different versions.
does it allow live streaming? Can someone connect and watch live what I am recording?
I have a Hero 2 now. I have lost the housing. Is it worth upgrading to the Hero 3?
Yes, it will allow someone to see a "low-fidelity preview" of what is being recorded on the camera. The fidelity is "good enough" for a phone preview, but not the actual recording quality.
For track purposes it will not have the range to cover the track. I suspect that by the time wifi negotiated between the phone and camera, the rider would be out of range again.
I've not had a 2, so can't really speak to the differences.
I'm sure more use GoPros
The built-in wifi on the 3 is nice for setting up the camera (live preview) and reviewing videos in the pits (you can stream the videos saved on the card), but thats about it. It also drains the battery very quickly, so I just use it to set it up then turn the wifi off.
This. However the black comes with the remote. It is useful to be able to have that strapped to your handlebar to start and stop the video so you are not recording yourself sitting and waiting.
However, I believe the silver has the wifi feature as well, and if I did it again, I would just get the silver for the wifi and use of the app.
I wouldn't be able to use either for racing though
you can strap the remote to the triple clamp. shouldn't be a problem in race tech. since you're still an AM you have a little time on the grid to hit the start button assuming its glove friendly before the flag drops. that way you won't be recording all of pregrid and the warmup lap saving you editing later.

The remote is a really nice addition especially for gloved operation. I use mine snowboarding, haven't tried to put it on my bike yet. Assuming you can get a safe and accessible way to mount it, it's great.
I went to MMI I know what Im doing here chief
Is there a cheaper place to get them or is it standard price anywhere?
You might be able to get a group buy going on them for a lower price.

They have a set price, but places like Best Buy may offer some deals like a BB gift card.
