So I purchased a nice 8 foot load rite type utility trailer from e30 addict. with a gate that folds up.
Has some board on the bottom like this
Well I just realized that If i want to load up something longer than 8 ft the gate doesnt remove or fold down( due to the boards). cant remove as the pivot receiver is welded on after the gate pin is inserted (not using the right terms i know)
I'd have to remove all the boards to lay the gate down in the trailer
Eitherway.... anyone have a solution to my quandry of wanting to not have t pull the boards each time when I want to carry something that 8 ft?

ahh yes.. but i'd still like to keep the gate and use it( makes taking the bikes off easy on my old 42 yo knees
hmmmm......
I was going to pull the hinge pins and replace with bolts so I could remove the gate, but I never got around to it. I actually didn't want the drag from the gate.
I think you need to drill the end on hinge and cut the other to remove the gate first.
Edit: found this about the hinges.Hacksaw between the gate and trailer hinge attachments to separate the gate from trailer and do something similar. The hinges on those trailers is a two piece hinge. The trailer side is the post and the gate side is the barrel. You could probably drill out the cap on the trail side of the hinge and then use a bolt as a removable pin. you would need a bushing to make up the difference of diameters between the two sides of the hinges

You can make the gate removable but you will need a little welding. Each hinge should consist of 2 barrels; one side has the pin which just slides into the other barrel. The barrels are mounted in opposing directions so the gate can't slide off sideways (if that makes sense). To make the gate removable, cut off some of the hinges and re-weld so they all orient the same direction. Then the gate can slide off if you shift it to the side a few inches.
This is assuming a certain hinge style as well as not needing the ramp for stuff >8' long.

I have the 7x12' version with side gate & double rear gates. I'll take a close look at mine tonight...
It looks very similar to my Tractor Supply Carry On anyway...
Did you grit your teeth and try to look like Clint Fuckin' Eastwood?
Or did you lisp it all hangfisted like a fuckin' flower?
i have the same trailer but smaller. cut the gate off as soon as it arrived home, too cumbersome, i use a small metal ramp to load the bike instead.
i keep the ramp secured to the trailer with thick bungies but the plan is to weld a pin so that i can unload/store the ramp without bungies. we used to have a similar setup on an old 3-rail that worked great.
