    Springfield XD-m

    Gonna pick one up tonight.

I'm having a hard time deciding between the 9mm and the .40.

It's too big for me to carry. It's just gonna be a shooter. I'm leaning towards the .40 just because I love the cartridge.

    Gimme some advise...

Nice gun but the holster and mag carrier are junk, I don't care for the xd's triggers but just my .02, if it's just going to be a shooter why not opt for the 9mm to save money on ammo?

    eta love the two tone!!

If you're just plinking or target shooting, .40 is going to be expensive to shoot, 9mm will be cheaper.

    Re: Springfield XD-m

I have the .40 and I love it. I don't have the two tone just the black one. It has never had a missfire and is plenty accurate. I do find the trigger pull a little rough and seems to pull forever before it fires. It's the same as a Glock with the two piece trigger.

Did you look at an XD-M? They are slim and might work for a carry gun. The XD-M in 9mm holds 19+1 which is cool as hell. Even if you can't hit anything you could scare the crap out of everyone emptying the thing.

That is an XDM, at least with glocks you can work on improving the triggers but I thought you could send an xd back to SA for some kind of "trigger package" to improve the pull/break?

So it is an XDm. I didnt notice.

haven't heard anything about sending back. If they can improve it why don't they just do better in the first place?

    Re: Springfield XD-m

    Ok according to Springfields website:

    Trigger Work:
XD® Combat action job (Reduction of trigger pull only. Suitable for carry/self defense) ............................$ 105.00
XD® Combat action job w/internal overtravel adjustment (Suitable for carry/self defense) ............$ 145.00
XD® Competition action job (Reduction of trigger pull with reduced overtravel & reset. Competition only.) ...$ 195.00
    XD(M)™ Competition action job (Reduction of trigger pull w/reduced overtravel)……… .....................$ 165.00
Smooth surface on face of trigger ........................................................................... ...........$ 30.00
    Increase trigger pull to 10-12 lb. ........................................................................... ..............$ 70.00

Why would I pay to have a 10 to 12 lb trigger?

Might be an leo thing, like the "new york trigger pull", but yeah like 10# is just too light.

    Re: Springfield XD-m

I still think i'm gonna end up with the .40. I just think I'll be kicking myself if I get it in the 9mm. Besides... I have four 9's. I have the XD sub compact in 9mm, two Belgium made Hi-Powers and a Baretta 92F.

The one I'm getting isn't the two-tone. It's the all matte. I'm also adding the light and the lazer for the bottom rail.

I got the .40...it is my favorite gun. IMO (limited) it is a pretty light kick. For whatever reason I shoot that gun better than anything I've ever tried (but, that might just be a problem with my shootining).

I decided to wait for a while before modifying the gun....after a while I decided to leave it as it is. I actually think the trigger is pretty comfortable.

I looked at these but ended up getting a Glock. The "package" wasn't worth it to me because the do dads are junk. I got a Glock 23 with hi cap mags for less than the XD.

Because it's not imposssible to find. I can get cases of it from a local dealer right now.

A lot of people find the grips and grip angle of the Glock to be a problem. I wouldn't mind picking up an XD-9.

Not true. There is tons of 9mm available. I bought a case of .40 S&W and a case of 9mm the other day when I picked up the XDm.
