cool car Alex!
I thought it was fine. What did they say about it?
ETA:
Was it this thread? I didn't really search, just found this in General on the front page. Doesn't really say negative things.
ETA pt 2:
Found this thread as well... OP seems to have a lot of butt hurt.
I still think it's a good tool in addition to other resources - I'm not saying it's the be-all-end-all.
-
Some of the negative comments include:
- Doesn't really give advice -- well, it's more showing you what they did and how you could do the same.
- First of all they got an auto that was previously modified and probably beat on. - Okay, well... they're just showing you THEIR project car... the base fit what their budget was and they built it from there...
- OP of the negative thread also says they run a CAI and BOV - which around the NASIOC circles/forums is a big no-no... guess what, a lot of people run 'em anyway. (The stock intake and bypass are more than adequate for the stock turbo... with an upgrade, you'll want to pull in more air, but you probably don't need a BOV - unless you like that sound)
- OP also complained about the suspension and aggressive wheels... there's a whole thread on NASIOC on aggressive wheels - mostly the owners out on the West Coast.
I think overall, the magazine is still a good resource to supplement the shop manual... worth the $6 to me, still.

See above.
I found the two threads in question.
I agree, re: NASIOC is full of morons. Or full of people who are like, "I heard that..." and "I read that..." and "I think that..." -- me included at times.
I'm not mechanic, and if I think something's beyond me, I'll ask for help, or take it to a shop... the magazine is more detailed and helpful than 90% of the threads/posts on NASIOC when someone asks for help...
